My FZR1000 racer

Post by sbutler »

I bought this tired old FZR off the net. It was a backet case with a great motor.

Now with a bit of modding, its a great racer down here in Aussie land..1990 to 1995 class.

Racing it in post classic 1990 to 1995 new era class.
Havent struck a blow in anger yet. Had a very drama packed first meeting at Eastern Creek, bad fuel [Shell]stuffed my weekend.
:hissy
Did have a very good test/ride day at Oran Park Have had all sorts of issues, but its all sorted now. But I've run out of money so racing will be put on hold for a little while. :sad

arrr yes the old problem of racing and no money..........i know that old chestnut well

I raced an FZR 750 for a few years in mainly club racing, with the occasional outing at the stars of tomorrow, or a tri state challange

man i could have been a world beater if i only had more money (and a load more talent!!!)

good luck with your racing efforts

Yeah Stan Its a bugger. I was racing in the late 80s on then the current bikes[GSXR750] & wasn't doing to bad either. Its funny though, the more money I spent the better I went :hissy

Had a pretty bad get off at Amaroo pk, so that sort of ended my career.
But this sort of racing is much more a social event rather than all out war.
In the old days we were all fighting for the sponsors dollars. Now its just as intence, but without the pressure of having to perform..

Spent mega dollars getting the frame cracks welded & braced, valve shims, carbs set up & serviced.
New EBC HH brake pads F&R rotors machined, Twice!
New dogbones, complete front fork seals & service, & with the help from Zolten complete chassie set up.
Its basicly standard but for a K&N filter & a slip on muffler. Im not looking for great power gains yet,
There is much more gains to get from the rider[me] than the bike.
It is putting out the good numbers on the dyno,
which shows in the way it goes.

The rider is the weakest link at the moment. :hissy
