so it's been a while since i updated this thread. got a couple new pics and new direction for my rat.
i've decided to turn it into a bobber. i'm finally starting to get some work done on it since putting it up for the winter. i tore the subframe off today and am waiting on an 03 R6 seat to get here so i can fab up a subframe for it.
the only trouble i am anticipating is trying to fit all my electrics under the seat. until i get the seat and some steel i did a little photoshopping to get an idea'

so the weather got really really nice and i had to shelf the project. put the bike all back together so i could ride. running the stock subframe and seat without the tail fairings.
took this pic yesterday. obviously the nice weather didn't hold out too long

Aaaark!nice weather didn't hold out
I see what you mean... dare I say it but them's car weather. Or even
better, staying home with a warm fire or heater, and a warming bottle,
and a warm female ...

Neat. That'll stay looking tidy and clean with much less effort.
I love shiny polished alloy wheels, but mine tend to be shiny
polished for 2 days and then dull corroded dirty looking for 4 months.
That sux.

eventually i want to have everything flat or satin black. frame, motor, wheels, swingarm, fork tubes. everything but the brake rotors and the bit of fork tube between the lower triple and outer fork tubes.
gonna wrap my pipes sometime in the near future too. might do some sort of rim stripe. white or neon green. and some other sort of graphic in white or green on the tank and front fender. something simple like a stripe down the middle

i actually think it looks half decent without the tail plastics on there. i just need to do something about the ugly coolant reservoir on the other side and maybe hide the wiring somewhere. i have a monster energy can with a resealable cap that i want to use as a catch can. maybe put it between the radiator and the frame on the right side.
just need to save up to have my new subframe welded for me.
i also want to find a scale and weigh the bike. see just how much weight i've lost. unfortunately i didn't weigh it before i started ripping it apart. but i think a stock 89 FZR1000 weighed in about 520lbs with a full tank of gas? i imagine i will have dropped in the neighborhood of 50lbs when i get the new subframe and seat on there.
