What tyres are you running Mike? I agree its better to stay on the same rubber, at least initially, as its a good benchmark until you get more familiar with the other differences. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself either, although its easy to do, I know I do. I guess its all relative too - racing in New Era I figured out what I needed to do to run well enough and just did that. Now I am running a 400 its a whole new ball game, up against young A and B graders on good bikes which even if I have the equipment and the desire I am not likely to mix it with them fully, so again I'll go for consistent finishes and see where I end up at year's end. If you look at most club championships there are only ever half a dozen guys at most per class that do every round. You can finish outside the top 4 or 5 every race but still finish 3rd overall for the year.

Not at all spook, but it depends on the Philip Island Classic being open to our bikes :)

What tyres are you running Mike?
Dunlop GP Racers med rear soft front. I think they are OK tyres. I have held some pretty extreme lean angles with them and they hang on alright. My problem is getting the lean angle vs throttle balance right :)
Any pics yet Mike???
Not yet Steve. I have previewed a few and they look about the same as last year. Probably be a week or so until I get a proper look.

Hey mike, I've been looking at those photo's and your a fair way over, especially with trying to wind on that much power coming out of the corners.

I had a similar style to you - knee out / butt on the seat (from what I can see in the pictures), but I had to modify it a bit to keep enough corner speed to keep the GSXR7/11's in sight (when I was running the 750).
These days I slide around the side of the tank, a bit like Mick Doohan - but a lot slower, and I've found that I'm getting enough weight transfer to keep the bike up right a little more, plus I'm getting much better drive out the corners even with the 1040, without the back wheel spinning up.

Personally I don't seem to be physically able to get my knee down due to the way I'm put together, but we each find our own way of making fast cornering happen.

Re: tyres - Pirelli Super Corsa Pro or Metzler Racetechs - best money you'll ever spend.

Just my :2cents worth, and I love the fact that your using the FZR in anger :cheers

Cheers Kiwi. I have old man hips too and the leg doesn't bend back any more than that. :)

I'm going to school next month to work on the body position. ;)

I tend to ride like Colin Edwards. Head over the corner of the windscreen and knee slid up the lower fairing with one cheek off.

But I'm not fast either.
