Stans ex FZR1000 is going racing!!!

Post by sbutler »

I have sold Stans FZR to a guy in Camberra & he wants to race it in the PCRA with me. So Im busy prepairing it now. Ive got the shock out & being serviced, orded to racetech front springs & custom spacers etc. So Mike SS is not gonna be alone on the Peter Jackson bike now, there will be 3, 92 FZRs, & 2 89s racing this year!!!
I know Mick & Jason on the 89s are very good riders, so they are gonna be tough to beat.
Bill, the guy that bought Stans bike has come from 600 supersport so he maybe a dark horse??
Mike SS has been around a few times, so he could be a threat.
The other fellow on the 92 is pretty much a club rider, so Im not to worried about him.

Oh its shaping up to be a tough year. I think I better learn to ride this Suzuki pretty quick!
27-28th of Feb Wakefield park will be the first hitout for some of us, & should be a great weekend.

Here's hopin' anyways.

Yes Yes I know, I said, I'm building a project YZF1070

Basement is done now, 850 finished and gone...
Gotta get the new siding up on the house.
Fixing the FZ1 up, cleaning up garage and then I might even begin

Well Steve, let's revisit this post at the end of the year and see what happened!! BTW Mick's is an 87 not 89 - and I hear there is also a guy joining PCRA this year who has an 87 ex Superbike with all the right kit and in his day was nipping at the heels of the top guys, he was at the One Hour checking things out, so if he does come along he will be hard to beat, on paper anyway. I guess you only need to worry about position in class ultimately, although there is still a lot of pride at stake for outright position too, right!
So you will only have to worry about 2 competitive 92's in class.

At this stage I don't think I'll do the Barry Sheene, so the only PCRA round I'll do will be the Vic round at Broadford, plus maybe the One hour at the end of the year.

Yes your right Jay. I dont know about the BSfos myself yet. I hope the committy comes to its senses, & makes it a points round, if they dont I cant see it being a success. There are heaps of guys not going for that very reason. NOT counting the buckets!
Its a very expencive meeting, you only get three :6 lap races, & no points

I doubt there will be a lot of PCRA guys going to VIC . It may be a points round, but its simply to far for a lot to travel, me included.
But we'll see what comes out of the next club meeting. I hope they change their minds.
I can see their point by having the vic points round, will bring more guys. but I think they should have drop your worst round instead. That will work better.. That way all of us can drop aour worst round, & its fair all around.

PS:: Im not worried about an ex superbike. Wait till I get the Yoshie cams & headers on the gsxr 165hp+ & 175KGs ha ha ha... :banana

No shame about Marty, pride mate pride. You can say you once owned a true racer.. ;)
It will be pampered like a new baby. Rather than banging around the roads, rain hail or shine.
Gonna make a sweet race bike Marty.

Nothing quite like a good long ride to clear the remaining brain cells, which is why I still have the SV.

Come on now Steve if I can travel 1000ks to do it for no points then you can make the effort too :P

Think of it as a state of origin as there will be 5 or 6 Queenslanders coming down. I may be bringing both bikes now as the guy who is going to have a go on my 750 seems pretty keen. :)

Ok Team Exup's
Here the poop to date.
I have just had the Ohlins serviced, & it has come up a treat. Its chock full of Gold valves & stuff now, & is in the bike.
Ive got the RaceTech .95 & spacers for it waiting to be fitted. :banana

Its off to Canberra on Satarday, for final race preping, eg:: lock wiring etc.
Then it should be pretty much ready for the first PCRA round on the 27/28 of Feb..

So come the Barry Sheene there will be two FZRs doing battle in the pre modern class..
