Practice report from the Barry Sheene

Post by sbutler »

Well the GSXR performed well, nothing to stunning as far as times go, we didnt have the transpoders today, but a few guys were taking random times, I think I did a high 1.49. Dont know what thw fast guys are doing, we'll find that out tomorrow.

MikeSS & the northerners all went well[ from what I could see] & had a good day. Weather was great all day..So there you are, things are pretty rosie.

Qually, tomorrow & a couple of races, so that will sort most of us out.

Oh yes:: there is a couple of very fast guys that came down with Mike SS :hissy

Pity I am not one of them :) Good day of racing today.

Having a ball though. The track is sensational..Turn 1 and turn 8 (I think) are my favorites.

Full report when I get home. :)

Ive sort of hit a wall in myself, I just cant get my head around the GSXR. I should be faster,Im not saying I should be winning or even getting better places. I should be a bit faster thats all.
I cant work it out???? :hissy
Everything is going really well, the bike is faultless, I feel im riding it ok but the times just arnt comming. Im getting a bit frustrated by it.
Im sure its in my head.??
This thing eats tyres faster than a cop at a Krispy Kreem shop!!!
I thought the FZR was hard on tyres,!!! Im in a rut of some kind & need to find a way out.. Maybe today..

The northerners are having a ball MikeSS is loving the joint, The FZR is punching on as always. So all's well.

I'm sure you'll just look at something differently and then it'll all fall into place,
BAM! and you'll be where you need to be. I'm not surprised that a completely
different bike to what you are used to, is taking some getting used to.

Luck to all and...

GO TEAM EXUP !

12 out of 42 isn't that bad... So are you tearing the rears up, or chewing through them due to spinning up too much? You could try softening the rear a little and see if you can get the power down better. perhaps back off rebound a click or two? The time you spend spinning up, is time spent not at full drive out of the corners.

Steve,

I recall Steven Ward's 750T also chewing tyres, sounds like they may be particularly sensitive to set-up??

Do you feel its geared right?

Your times are not far off, don't forget it took you a little while to sort the 1000 and get the best out of it.

Yeah I know what your saying, Jay. Gearing was perfect 13,500 at the 100m mark.. But it isnt spinning up at all. I think its high mid corner speed thats doing it? plus the power doesnt really start to happen untill 10,000 & its comes on with a bit of a bang, & runs out at 14,500 rev limit. So I think the way it delivers it has something to do with it as well.
The front tyre is shagged too.!!!!
Soft F medium R is on it now. Might talk to someone in the know & see it a med F hard R maybe better.

But really I just cant become one with the bike & track. Something isnt jelling correctly, & im 99.9% sure its ME.
Wakefield was a great weekend, & this invisable wall ive hit wasnt there. I just got better as the weekend went on. This weekend I got to a point & things just stopped?? I cant put my finger on what it is, & I havent had this problem before.. Bikes great, I feel Im riding well tracks good, but the times just stopped progressing? I'll be doing a lot of sole searching from now untill Wakefield.
:help

Overall points for the weekend. Check out those bloody QLDlanders!!!!!!
