Cars and Bikes Meeting

Post by Mike_SS »

I'll be brief because typing is hard :)

Took YZF and FZR out to do coaching day and cars and bikes meeting. Coaching day plagued wit mechancal issues and then rain. Practice on Friday it started raining on parts of the track and session was red flagged. After red flag  I had big highside (they tell me) on YZF. Got home 5 days later nursing 9 fractures spread across both arms and both sides of rib cage. Out for the season with plenty of time to ponder things. Ouch!

Ouch....

Bad luck Mike, must have been a hard landing. Bad timing too, right at the start of the summer season.

How's the bike?

Sorry to hear about your bin there Mike, OUCH indeed. Ribs and clavical are some of the worst breaks, especially without the medical "profession," and I use that term loosely, not being able to set them back into place and cast them.

Hope your healing goes well. In the mean time, just think of all the time you'll have to spend money you're saving from not racing on your machine!! Then you'll even have time to install everything on your machine too!! Always a positive side to things, usually anyways.

Hope you get well soon and that you're feeling better already. ;)

Cheers guys. I was in an altered state of consiousness after the crash and have not seen the bike yet but they tell me it is not too bad. My helmet and leathers just came home..helmet strap cut annd leathers also cut off me. :(

I'll get the bike back next week sometime. No hurry, won"t be doing much of anything for a while.

Ribs and clavicle are literally a pain but they will be right in a few weeks. The worry is the muliple fractures to the humerus. Country hospital debated for 3 days whether to pin it or not but didn"t in the end. Will get second opinion because i can feel the bone moving around.

I didn"t bounce very well :)

I know it sucks but if you hit your head hard enough to not remember then the helmet did it's job, cuz you woke up. And trust me, you wanted them to cut the leathers off instead of trying to take limbs attached to broken bones out of leather sleeves. Hope you feel better soon and get back on the horse again, it'll take the rest of the season to shake the demons though.

Hey Mike,

Definitely find a Doc that will pin your humorous for you as you DO NOT want it to heal out of place obviously. I had much the same injuries from the same dreaded, high-side, bike incident, and the end of the left side of my collar bone sticks out more than an inch, in hind-site, I wish they would've plated it. So, I'd push for them to plate your humorous for sure as that's a tad more important than the clavical I think.

Again, get better soon dude.

Thats bad news Mike, but the good part is your still able to tell us about it - must have been a hell of a hard landing though.

I guess you'll be looking for ideas for a new paint scheme soon as well...

All the best, rest up and well see you back out soon.
