Jay If I still have the "L" model I might come down to make the numbers. After the work both you & Nige did to get P6 there. I think it should be reprosented as best it can. dont worry about hp steve,you guys will have the corner speed on the big heavey old fzr's m8.i cant wait to see how my fzr compares to the others fzr's that turn up and how much faster in have too get to keep up....lol.

Steve B - mate, just come down, we need you - doesn't matter if its a hp-fest or not, we're used to that anyway, its all about getting P6 out there. And for us 750 guys, it should be a bit more level as I wouldn't expect any/many full-house superbikes with A graders out there yet (that'll happen at the titles in Nov)
Steve T - follow me round? This is what happens on my bike with any bike quicker in a straight line - I get passed down the straight. I put in a big effort round the back to get past. I lead onto the straight. Same bike passes before start/finish line. Repeat 5 times to finish. Funny thing is I've only had one 4 lap dry race on the VFR in total so I'm a bit shy on race time myself on my bike. Hartwell last year I took both, qualified on the VFR as it was wet (no spare rims for FZR) but then raced the FZR for the first time in dry heats, then meeting cancelled after Saturday crash.
Vic titles last year VFR broke down after 1 lap. Vic titles this year fell off in wet qualifying, missed first heat, 2nd and 3rd races partly wet, toured around to not destroy new wet. Did lots of laps on a ZX10 at the 6 hour though!!! And I have done a track day on the VFR now I think about it....

Perhaps if the riders agreed that we are there to put on a show, to establish P6 (the beginning of the super bike era) as an exciting event and worthy of inclusion as a/the premier class of historic racing. I'm not saying fix the race, but keep it in mind to keep it tight?

In the early 90's Corser put in a 37 on the Winfield RC30....depends on who turns up on what but I'd expect the front P6 bikes at the Island, worked FZR1000's with A graders onboard to be down around 44's maybe better, weather permitting. As I've done a bit of work to the bike since I raced it there last if I got into the 46's I'd be very happy.

Lets see now... ASBK lap record at PI 1.33.8, NZSBK lap record at Pukekohe 56.7... divide by 6, carry the 2, add the number you first thought of... so a 1.48 translates to about a 1.05, which coincidentally is the pace the front running Pre 89 bikes run at (not me, I hasten to add). Well good for a 750 mind, there is a local RC30 that turns in those times but most of the fast laps are GSXR1100s, Pukekohe being somewhat of a horsepower track.
That 1.38 of Steve Martin's more than a little impressive. That equates to a 59 sec lap in Pukekohe money - the fastest Post Classic lap I've seen at Puke was a 1.02 recorded by ex GP racer Richard Scott on a P5 GSX1100.
