Just picked up a trackday toy

Just brought home a new (sort of) bike for track duty.

It's a 02 yellow/black CBR600 F4i with 46 miles on it.:D

Long story short, a kid bought the bike and dropped it. Brought it into the dealership for repairs and booted with the ins. $$ when it came in and left the dealer stuck with the bike. Tried to get a price on this bike last year but the dealer never called back with a price on it. My buddy picked it up late in the season to use as a track bike but has since had other things come up and won't be able to use it. Sold it to me for cheap $$.

Now to send it in for a "break in" and "tune" on the Dyno. Strip all street parts off and list them on Ebay. Send the bike to Peter Kates (GMD Computrack) for the suspension work and then put some track plastic, rear sets, frame sliders on and get a PC3 installed. Also have to put the Yoshi RS-3 slip-on that my buddy bought for it:drool:

Only thing that would have made it better would be if it were an R6. Oh well can win them all, but on the bright side it won't hurt as much as pavement surfing the FZR1000.

Nice bike RiceRocket. Image

The CBR600 F4i is a nice track bike through the corners. You'll like it.

The only thing that I'm going to have to get use to is not having the grunt coming out of the corners like I do with the FZR.

I guess that just means I'm going to have to carry more corner speed and get on the throttle sooner

Also have to see if I can come up with a little more money, the same guy I bought the CBR from has an 04 999s that he wants to sell me. That one has some where around 600 - 700 miles and already has the Termignoni Exhaust and Chip installed... For me the bike would be bought for a price below value. Nice to have friends like that.....Now where is that money tree, and can I shoe horn a fourth bike into the shed ;)

Starting to fit the race plastic so that I can have it painted. Just happens to be the same year and model as my buddies and he has Lockhart Philips for a sponsor. got the plastic at his cost. Save about $200 on the set. Image

Well had the suspension done at GMD Computrack Boston.

Feels much better already and I only rode it from the trailer to the shed.

Installed the Yosh slip-on, Woodcraft sliders, home made exhaust hanger. Relocated the tip sensor fromt the nose cone to just in front of the stearing stem. Going to sell of some of the plastic so that I can get a set of the Woodcraft rear sets for it.

Getting the race plastic fitted.....

Picked up some "Hot Bodies" race plastic. Definately not an OEM fit, but with some work got everything to fit. Just have to mount the front fender. After that i can pull it all off and the wife can take it to work and shoot it with some color. Most likely going to stick with the stock color scheme.

Then of course the future of the brotherhood had to get into the pics too.....

Just got in, the rain on the way home sucked. Nearly had two brown furry hood ornaments on the way home. All that after some pavement surfing through the bowl (turn 6) just after lunch.....

Got things straightened out and went back out for the last two sessions. The track day photographer was in the bowl and caught me doing the pavement dance. Will post up pics when I get them in from him....
