Got him to try a track day at Louden last year. Now I see that he has signed up for two more this year.... :cool
So what kind of back protector did you end up getting for the track this year? Seeing that they are now manditory.
Oh ya, Make sure that oil filter is safety wired....

well...now I'm a bit more concerned about the back protector thing. I didnt go out and buy one...since I read the rules section and it would appear that my jacket has a built in protector which is good enough.
from site...
BACK PROTECTOR - Beginning in 2006, we will be requiring all riders to have some sort of back protector. We prefer this to be the "hard plastic" type, but it is not mandatory. This can either be a separate item, or built into your suit. You will be checked prior to getting onto the track, so please make sure you satisfy this requirement prior to arrival. CLICK HERE FOR THE ARMOR PROTECTION SYSTEM THAT WE RECOMMEND!
I am reading the part that says 'preferably hard plastic but not necessary' so my jacket should be ok.
I hope so...as its likely too late to find one at this point.

If you don't get time to do it just get the hose clamp and I'll do it for you. I will have my safety wire and tools with me...

I'll be there but the wife will be doing this one and I'll be corner working. That is unless her back doesn't let her. If that's the case then most likely I'll be taking her day.

John....lol, I was just thinking about your exxon valdez last year....that is soooo funny, just b/c I'm sure it was devastingly embarrassing, and I like ya, so I guess its okay to laugh, huh?
why would you skimp $70 on a back protector? especially now w/ your spine injury, I'd spend the extra money and be safe...I doubt your jacket's one is comparable...

I am big enough to laugh off any valdez jokes....first thing I did when I got back to the pits was raise my hands and say to all the sad faces...yep it was me and I'm sorry as heck (if anyone wanted a piece of me I'd have thrown oil on them he he)
why would I skimp 70 bucks....good question...you've seen my house project ? lol
the special protector would no doubt be better than my jacket builtin protector...but then I doubt if my jacket would fit my fat a$$ any more and THEN cause me upgrade jackets...something not in my budget
