Well guys I have my raceglass & was wondering just what colour to paint the bike.
Seeing my old FZR 1000 is a 92 model I started thinking, what bike were racing in those days & how did they look?
I did a bit of research & decided here in ozz the Yamaha dealer team were a big deal. Firstly in Marlboro colours & later in Peter Jackson colours.
Pumping out the like of Kevin Magee, Mick Doohan. Troy Corser,
Scott Doohan, Rena Bongers, Peter Goddard, Steve Whitehouse, & many others.

Ok here we have it. This is the bike Ive decided to copy for a few reasons.
1 Its a 92 FZR 750 [mine is a 1000] close enough..
2 Its the same year as my bike.
3 MA in their wisdom gave me the registered racing number "20" for 09
4 This bike has number "20"
This is Troy Corsers PJ bike in 1992.
So that is all a bit of an oman in my book, so Im going ahead with my plans.
What do you fellows think? I think it will look great! Sort of keeping our history alive!

i'm big on omans when it comes to bikes, you had me at number 20

that Yamaha dealer team really did turn out some great personnel, riders and mechanics alike, think i have a picture of Peter Goddard riding an OW01 in a support event at the first Pi GP, but it is in Malbro colours

Kevin Magee rode a PJ sponsored YZF at a WSBK round at PI in the early 90's (92 i think??) it still ranks as 2 of the best races i have ever seen

Look foward to seeing the final result

I like everything but the redish/orange strip, all the other colours, I'll be using as well, I think, but I just don't care for the other.

Looks good, lets see when you're done.

Ive got onto the company [MOTOTECH] in Sydney that did the paint jobs for the Yamaha Dealer Team in those days. Beleive it or not, I spoke to the owner & he still has all the colours & specs for the race bikes on file !!!

Get this: :banana : He is gonna paint my bike for me to the original specs..
How luckys that? So it all a goer for the next season..
