hi i have a 90 exup 1000 its done about 46000, its a bit of a bitch starting from cold, but while i am turning it over sometimes i get a very loud metalic crack coming from the engine, it sounds really bad but it still keeps turning over after. the only thing i can think is if the starter is slipping a tooth. i was wondering if any one els had had similar

It sounds like hydrolic lock. You may have a sticking float in the carbs (in 1 or more) which allows gas to flow into the cylinder. When you are turning it over and the engine gets to the compression stroke (all valves closed) it can't compress the gas and stops the engine with a very loud clunk. This can possibly bend a connecting rod.

Thats my .02
