I tried the search function and came up with nothing...<br>I know this has been talked aobut before though..so here goes.<br><br>I have 90 Fizzer. I am redoing a set of forks. ANyone have a good how to for the tear down and rebuild. I would like to replace the springs, seals, and emulators. Is there anything else I should do? What benefit will I see from changing the emulators? I was looking at the Racetech .90 springs(through their calculator on their site). Heard guys talking about Racetechs emulators??? If your fork seals are "Leak Proof" I strongly suggest you do not use them. IMHO, they are absolute garbage. The good fork seals are made by NOK in Japan & they say NOK on them in very fine print. NOK supplies the OEM seals.<br><br>Cartridge Emulators use a deformable shim stack to achieve a variable orifice for the fork oil to pass through. Think of a conical stack of very thin sheet spring steel washers. <br><br>Damper rods (such as your stock set up) use a fixed size orifice to restrict the fork oil's passage from the high-pressure side of the shock (fork) valve to the low-pressure side. <br><br>Imagine a two-axis graph with the vertical axis being suspension travel speed & the horizontal axis being dampening forces. The low end of both axiseses being at the lower left of the graph with increasing numbers as one goes up or to the right. <br><br>With a fixed orifice you would get a ascending straight line at approximately 45 degrees to the right on the above graph. This means that the faster the suspension is asked to travel the more dampening force there is. This makes sudden harsh events like speed bumps & potholes violently disturbing to the suspension. <br><br>With a variable orifice on the above graph you would get a curved line to the right. It would start out close to horizontal at the lower left of the graph & gradually change to near vertical at the upper right of the graph. <br><br>The Cartridge Emulators therefore supply better low speed (minor smooth bumps) and better high speed (sharp sudden large bumps) dampening. All modern serious sportbikes that have telescopic forks have cartridge type forks. <br><br>Race Tech Gold Line Cartridge Emulators are a good way to go. Use Race Tech fork springs with their emulators. Of course, I can supply this stuff. <br><br>Matt at PSB<br> <p></p><i></i>
