Carb configurations

Post by billruiz »

I finally got the chance to bring my 94 1000 back from the dead. I got her running, but with the partial throttle problems. I've got two sets of carbs. One with a DJ Stage 1 and one stock (I think). The DJ set has different needles with more adjustment grooves. Is there a way I can return them both to using Mikuni jets, FactoryPro emulsion tubes? I live near sea level (Florida) so what jets would be best for my elevation?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Bill

Do you still have the EXUP valve Bill?
The carbs shouldn't be much trouble if the exhaust hasn't been changed. Just go back to the stock jetting as described in the factory service manual. Use the springs and needles only from the jet kit. Clips in mid position.
Start there, and it should run Ok, adjust as you like, but start from as close to the base stock settings as you can with the parts you still have.
Straight up Geek

Still have the EXUP valve, but lost the info on how to reset the valve so I don't know how the valve is currently set.

I'm planning on thoroughly cleaning the really grungy set. How many turns should the air screws be?

Bill

EXUP setting

Hello

The EXUP pulley has a kind of a fork on the one side, when idle this fork should be aligned with a check-hole in the valve cover. Make only a little slack in the wire, to hard adjusted make the servo sound overloaded.

Regards
Lemmy
