Keyless Gas Caps
Now exactly why in the world are these "Keyless Gas Cap YZF FZR1000 FZR 1000 Fazer 750 1000" $90 ?????
Last winter I had more than a couple of occasions to wonder if having a keyless cap wasn't the way to go as I was trying to thaw out the ice that had managed to clog my tanks lock. But $90 ?? !!!!

I would suppose the alternative would be to spend $150k for a machine center and another $20k for programming software and make your own....
Just kidding.
It's a mater of the economys of volume. There just isn't much call for keyless gascaps for 16 year old sportbikes. So the runs are smaller and you get to amortize the tooling and setup costs across less parts. Add those costs to the runtime X the shop rate plus the material and anodize costs, add in a little profit and there ya go. $90 each

Having owned a business of my own, I understand the economics however I think there are a couple points worth mentioning.
1) The same cap fits numerous other bikes and many of them are newer.
2) It would seem to me that something made to replace the locking cylinder would be more economical than replacing the entire lid and barrel.

For the same reason a Gucci belt is $225.00 ($179.00 discount price). :coolNow exactly why in the world are these "Keyless Gas Cap YZF FZR1000 FZR 1000 Fazer 750 1000" $90 ?????
I'm not sure what the reason is ... but apparently it's reason enough for those who buy it.
