Yes I was laughing at that this morning. Do you think his price is
overblown as much as his horsepower, or by more?

240hp out of a 1040kit with ports polished and a dynojet kit...
I'll be happy if I can get 140hp out of mine when I've got that...
and $14,000??!?!?!
HAHAHAHAHAHA...

:bfg :popcorn :ha :ha

In fact I recently saw a pristine original '94 sell for AU $2,200 on
ebay. Only 70,000km, which is ok miles for its age.

And I advertised my pristine and lightly accessorised '95 with
40,000km in March for $5200 and didn't even get any low offers.
So I kept it and am doing it up.
I hope it turns out to be a good decision, I think it will. I have a soft spot
for this engine and frame, if I can just get the bike a bit lighter in
weight and steering... new wheels soon???

Blood, sweat and tears went into that bike. The sweat definately came from lifting the bike off the ground everytime he moves it around. Shame, he is sad to see it go.

What a wanker

Ah yes, but consider what could be a cunning plan:

Biker is told by wife / partner / employer to sell bike or there will be consequences, so owner justifies price to wife / partner / employer by totalling up the amount of $ spent on said bike and advertises it for that figure, knowing full well that no one in their right mind would pay that for a bike this old (and if they did he would just go out and buy a new R1).

Result: Happy wife / partner / employer as rider has been trying extremly hard to please, but as the market is depressed he'll just have to hang onto it and might as well use it otherwise it would cost even more money to get it back on the road.

And just how do I know that a cunning plan like this works...
“I venture not to cross that finish line in a neat, tidy well ordered bundle, but to slide across it sideways in a shower of spark’s, leaking oil, hissing steam shouting ..Geronimo !!!!! “

2005 SV996R SOLD
1988 FZR750/1040 race bike SOLD
1988 FZR750/1000 - the next project CHANGING THE LOOK AGAIN, BUT STILL ON THE ROAD
Now he's got a KAWASAKI!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nope - Sold that one too
Dang - he’s got a Triumph now :o
Nope - The Triumph got written off :wtf:

are you serious??? Razz
Serious that i stopped, not serious that it was just to admire the bike...
the guy was ok, it was supposedly a mate of the owner, and the owner
was on the way to rescue him...

See, I knew you all (and me) would want to know more details
to see if there was anything mega interesting in there. Nope, just
a 1040 with ports polished, might have some bottom end
work (he says), standard exup headers with the exup taken
out (what!!?? :scared )
the polished frame was all stained from fuel dribbles and needed a re-polish.
The wheels and brakes looked good though.

Apparently the fuel was overflowing and when the guy stopped to check
it, the battery was flat and wouldn't re-start. I'm not surprised, it was
not even the correct battery, just some cheap generic non-sealed type.

Oh, and Re-listed today!
