Howdy fellas

Post by orionburn »

Think it's only been about a year since I posted on here. I imagine you guys all suck as much now as you did back then. :rofl

In all seriousness life's been nuts over the past year. Had knee surgery in Dec 09 and shortly thereafter I got hit with arthritis. Came on fast and hard. Finally getting it under control after a very frustrating year. I managed to still get out and ride on occasion, but nothing near what I normally do. Hoping this year fairs much better. Already in the planning stages on doing another track day up in Michigan this summer.

Hope ya'll been doing well since during my absence from the board.

ETA: Before it's asked, yes, I still have my fairings. Jerks.

Yeah, I've sucked at posting on any of my bike forums in the past year. Part of it was dealing with the arthritis. Didn't even look forward to riding much last summer. The new meds I'm on have been kick ass (so far) and hope the trend continues. It's nice to finally wake up in the morning and having more flexibility than a concrete slab.

Good to hear from once again sir,

If it makes you feel any better I'm still on my own bit of surgical recovery, at that was from 07. Finally starting to get a better handle on the meds. Which at 180mg per day + others were costing 'bout $12,000/year, and that's CAD, hate to think how much US people would get screwed by the pharmacy. Doc says I take enough meds to put a normal person in a coma so a reduction in meds is long over due and welcome for sure.

Arth in the knee? If so, welcome to my world. Difference is, I've had it since I was 8. wonderfull thing when I can predict a storm better than the local weathermen. :P What sucks though when it acts up, Advil, tylolol and aleve wont even dent the pain. Straight unbuffered asprin is the only non prescript that kills the pain. Vicodin of course does the trick but "slightly" addicting and expensive. :P

I got lucky and got hit pretty much everywhere. My psoriasis started coming back somewhat, but nothing bad. Well, lucky ol' me fell into the 30% group of people that get the arthritis associated with psoriasis. Went after my ankles, shoulders, knees and hands. We tried all the normal arthritis meds for a good 10 months with some improvement, but nothing to write home about. Finally decided to give Humira a try. Thank God for insurance - that stuff costs $1600 for a month's supply.

Yeppers...these biologic meds cost a pretty penny. Normally my copay would be $30/month. The pharm company has a program you can join that lowers it to only $5 a month and it pays 100% for my methotrexate (which that only costs like $11 out of pocket). :banana

Ran into a guy on the Sportbike Track Time site that also rides an 87 FZR1000. He said he knew about the FZR100online site but hadn't came across ours before. Gave him the link to here so hopefully he'll join up with us. I was going to renew my membership with NESBA but I don't know if they're even running at Gingerman anymore. SST has a crapload of dates at Gingerman so I signed on with them for this year. Kind of stinks cause I really liked the NESBA guys, but from what I've heard SST is just as good. Hope so anyway.

Wish like hell I had the extra money right now. SST is doing a special at the Joliet, IL Autobahn at the end of April. For $299 you get a track day and a new set of Michelins. That's a helluva good deal.
