Latest Pics of my YZF1000

Post by 97YZF1000 »

So I recently swapped out the windscreen for a clear Puig double bubble and got a red front fender to replace the stock black one. IMHO it looks much better with the red one. Enjoy the pics ;)

I'm in Kearny. I saw the buildup of your '92 and it brought back some good memories. I bought on just like it back in '94 and had it for a few years...

Well not much of a story actually...lol. I sold my other '97 YZF1000 in May of '09 (which I regretted almost instantly) and bought the '06 FZ1. A few months later I started looking for one again and came across this one in the Fall of '09. Spent the Winter going over the whole bike (stripped down to the frame) and rebuilding it with as many goodies as I could find (Ohlins suspension, Galfer rotors, etc). What you see now is the end result of all that work :)

Well The Yosh is louder w/o the dbkiller in place. I really only got to ride it around the block as I didn't have much time. The quality is also better than the Remus. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it's longer, but given the rear dimensions of the bike it still goes well.

Well it is shorter and that does make it look a little better, but the quality and fit of the Yosh is better.

Yea, she still looks good, not to mention quite unique here in the States since it was only imported in '97. I rarely ever see any others around.

They were only imported in 97 everywhere as the R1 came out in 98 and pre 97 was the FZR of course.

Yes Yes I know, I said, I'm building a project YZF1070

Basement is done now, 850 finished and gone...
Gotta get the new siding up on the house.
Fixing the FZ1 up, cleaning up garage and then I might even begin

No dude...In Europe (and possibly other markets) Yamaha continued to sell the Thunderace and R1 side by side until the Thunderace was finally discontinued in 2003. We certainly got the short end of the stick here in North America

And Canada got it for 96 and 97. Uk 96 to the end of the run in 01 (I believe). Colours were also different between Canada and the US as Canada got the red/white that the US got, a red/black and Blue/black they didn't (the fastest colour by far), and the US market got a grey/black that we didn't.
