K4
I had a go on a K4 a few weeks ago. Funny, but my impressions were very different from yours. I stongly suspect that your comparing the GSXR to your turbo FZR, am I right?

So what did I think, comparing it to my (almost) stock standard 1989 FZR1000W? Amazing power, anywhere any time. Re: New Ultimate tyre test
Finally read through it. Looks like Pilot Powers for me next time. A mate of mine had these on his 02 R1 and they seem almost indestructable- hardly showing any signs of abuse despite being badly abused<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/devil.gif ALT=...

Re: Front wheel speedo drive
Ricerocket- did you check your front wheel bearings? I had this happen years ago on an FZ400R and the bits that sheared off got in the front wheel bearings. They were on the verge of collapsing when I found out, because I took my sweet time getting the speedo running again.

Re: cornering tips needed from experienced riders !
If the bike is trying to stand up in the bends, something is wrong. The FZR has quite neutral handling, and you can trail the front brake gently into the bends without it wanting to stand up too much. Check your tyre pressures- maybe the front tyre pressure is just too low, which would turn the bike...

Re: RE: Tyre Wear
Nbot, just to add to your confusion! When I had a D220 on the back I didn't like it as it would slide (progressively) under power- BUT the preload was too high, the damping was wound off the scale (ie more than 9 clicks), it had the squeak in the swingarm linkages which was making it bind and I was ...
Re: RE: Tyre Wear
I assume you mean my tyre- It will be the rear suspension- there were 2 things wrong with it when I went to the track
1) the shock has done 40,000km so doubtless it is fecked
2) the linkages were sticking- I fixed that yesterday and it made a huge difference, more grip + smoother ride.

...
Re: Tyre Wear
RiceRocket1, they look like D208's- what profiles do you have front and rear? I have a theory that if I fix the sqeaky rear end to get the swingarm moving smoothly then set the sag, right the wear patterns will even up to be more like yours.

How much tire pressure in each?
Set to 34psi both ends at local servo with their digital pressure guage after riding for less than 2km at 50km/h. Air temp at time was about -2°C. Tyre Wear
I did a track day with my FZR1000 on Saturday, it went pretty well, all things considered. I finally have a reasonable set up and I was able to corner pretty well. But I’ve noticed something that makes me think the setup can be improved further, and I’m wondering if someone could give me some advice...

Re: oil light probs!!
I agree with the above. Just make sure your oil level is topped right up (there are two dots cast into the engine casings next to the sight window). Mine usually comes on after taking a right hand corner at 120km/h or above.
