Re: EMRA Round 1 May 27
Great write up Jon, sounds like it all turned out right in the end. They don't like mixing motards in with "proper" bikes here after too many near misses with riders attacking corners on all manner of funny lines. My sympathies on the riding gear front. I took a brand new set of super duper, anti to...

Re: Better learn to drift
Cool! I like the way they put the Mustang on its roof at the end. Some people have way too much money.

Re: Barry Sheene Festival of Speed (BSFOS)
Reading through this thread again Spook I think Jason was simply pointing out something the scrutineers might pick up on so you could arrive forewarned. I don't think he was calling you a cheating cad who should be protested off the grid. Though I may have misread it :) Trackdays are all very well b...

Re: Barry Sheene Festival of Speed (BSFOS)
I guess it is what you make it. I was having fun at the Island, broken motors, oil leaks, crap times and all. Anyway, I'm not going to the BSFOS either now, in the spirit of the Bro'hood. So there. Mind you I never was going anyway, so no great loss to anyone. Jason, seriously, are your rules really...

Re: Barry Sheene Festival of Speed (BSFOS)
So now we're fighting amongst ourselves because of clause/subclause/subsubclause/paragraph/ line...? Come on chaps, this is supposed to be fun. At least when I go to the Island I can't be protested out, 'cos I'm eligible under NZ rules and we pretty much work on the basis of if it looks go...

Re: Next stop Phillip Island
Duke, some Kawa triple stuff on Ebay here, guy has a crank etc aswell Cheers Jason, I'll keep an eye on it. If it is what it claims to be it will probably go for serious money. I bid for some H1R bits recently, with a minute to go I had the lead bid - expensive but manageable. Over the next 60 seco...

Re: Next stop Phillip Island
I will be interested to hear what caused the engine to die? I was at a customer's shop this morning and found myself chatting to a customer of said customer, a guy who builds race car engines. So I told him what had happened and he straight away said "valve springs" - weak or even broken. I checked...

Re: Next stop Phillip Island
Sitting at the airport waiting to go home. I remember having breakfast in Phillip Island this morning but I'm not sure how I got to Melbourne...its been a long weekend. A really brilliant race meeting, it was great to meet up with Jason and SJTFZR1000 (or should that be SJTFZR1040?) and Stan and Spo...

Re: Next stop Phillip Island
And what's more the container arrived with nothing loose or broken. All unpacked and ready to go, practice day tomorrow - getting nervous now. Weather forecast is good, and for Friday and Saturday too, though Sunday possible rain. I've been watching lots of youtube videos and have read an article by...

Re: The "New Look"
Just an observation, I note when moving around in the new forum I periodically get a "Webpage has expired" message and have to press the refresh button to bring it back. No big deal but it didn't happen with the "old" forum?
Re: FZR1125
I was looking through some old posts and saw this thread. It seems to have faded away years ago but does anyone know what ever happened to it? Scar_biker, are you still out there? This is way too cool a project just to disappear.

Next stop Phillip Island
Team NZ packed the container for PI this morning. Only two P6 bikes in the end (sorry Jason), yours truly with the FZR and Pete Smith's Gixxer11. Two P5 seniors (GSX1100 and MacIntosh GSX) and eight P5 juniors (all TZs), and that's it for this year - sadly quite a few last minute dropouts. The conta...

A cautionary tale of obsession
A few years ago Ducati tuning house NCR built a run of bevel drive specials. The idea was to build them as light as possible so they were made pretty much out of solid titanium and had a cost at the time close to $100K. Yes there are people out there with that sort of money, and one of the bikes fou...

Lets see now... ASBK lap record at PI 1.33.8, NZSBK lap record at Pukekohe 56.7... divide by 6, carry the 2, add the number you first thought of... so a 1.48 translates to about a 1.05, which coincidentally is the pace the front running Pre 89 bikes run at (not me, I hasten to add). Well good for a ...

Thats what has me in this mess in the first place Sorry should have realised that! I had a look at a spare Genesis 1000 block, as far as I can see the Genesis and Exup blocks are dimensionally the same. You could use standard exup pistons in an exup block or in a Genesis block (overbored to 75.5mm ...
