HD seem to be going the same way as the British bike industry of the 60's & 70's.

They seemed to have buried their heads and hoped the competition would simply disappear...lack of forward thinking will be their downfall IMHO

As most of you know, I run the "other" UK site EXUP1000 and post here every so often (info sharing is always good). Always found the hood friendly and helpful and never minded giving advice/helping out when able. I too frequent several sites ...but have been REMOVED from the FZR site for reasons unk...

I used PFM replacement buttons on mine. They're made from stainless and use the circlip at the back against a wavey washer for security. UK law states they must be able to reach the rear pegs and be stable/safe Know what you mean about other folks thoughts about being irrisponsible I thought long & hard about the same issue...but medical probs at the time meant i'd either do it then or maybe never get the chance ever again. Can you get a pair of mole clamps on the outside of the nut? If so, use them along with the allen key to give extra leverage.

If you're going to tap it, be very careful how much force you give it...don't want to crack the castings

I loaded it when I had probs with IE and for me it was a pain in the R's. It had loads of issues so I ended up removing it and repairing IE (system is XP SP1) :sad

Mine cost me about $20 to paint as I already had most of the materials such as topcoat, thinners and primer. So far I've done 3 sets of wheels and I've used about half a litre of paint

My lad did his wheels easily whilst leaving the tyres on. Paint strippered , polished the rims, masked them up and then painted the centres up.
