I am afraid to say that I wasnt that struck on the 1st Harley ride I had last week, a 300Kg vibrator on wheels. After a 3 hour ride I was glad to be home. I was stiff and sore for a couple of days afterwards. Certainly different to the FZR250 that I ride.

The clip with it's "we believe" Harley oath repeated through out the clip is an obvious hard sell on the culture and image, and less of a focus on the technology. I think it was meant to scare conservatives away from buying a Harley

I see what you mean... A subculture adopts the Harley and then Harley adopts the subculture. It's a happy relationship.

We used to have 1100 Virago tarted up an all! got loads of peeps thinking it was a Harley, but if ya give me a choice of a Harley, a Virago and an FZX750........................................Fzx I would choose any day......much much more grin power!

i love most motorcyles, but harley isnt' one of them. if i was in the market for a big american v-twin cruiser, i would look at victory just to stay away from the harley culture. i fuggin' hate it.

every harley rider i saw this weekend while out riding my bonnie had the typical "i've been to x harley davidson shop and bought this t-shirt" t-shirt on. they thought they were hot shit, crawling through a turn at nearly single digit speeds then pinning the throttle open to pull away from my little bonnie, only to have me stuff it back up their tail pipes when it got a bit less than straight again. ughh. harley bugs me.

Apparently you never seen me on a HD.

How many times do you see a HD rider in a 2pc ballistic riding suit, racing gloves, boots and full face hardhat out making a fool of the local squiddies in the twisities?

8 foot long, 4 foot wide, handles like a truck, stops like an oil tanker, costs more than three better bikes - but worst of all, in this town everyone would just assume you work in advertising: more money than sense, an obsession with style over substance, and an unbearable smugness that frankly just deserves a slap.

I can't actually see my bike when I'm on it. But I can feel it.

I see it on occasion ... but they are usually riding alone and they have a different posture/attitude about them. They didn't raise their right hand and take the "I Believe" oath when they bought their Harley

I see more metric cruisers setup as performance bikes with a 2pc ballistic riding suit, racing gloves, boots and full face hardhat out making a fool of the local squiddies in the twisities.

The Harley culture is expanding beyond the bounds of just motorcycles. Everyone knows of Harley merchandizing; which includes clothes, accessories, jewelry, etc ... Even Ford came out with the Harley F150 pickup truck to haul your Harley. Now you will be able to eat Harley food.

Harley-Davidson vrooms way into food business with jerky

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Harley-Davidson (HOG) is selling a new source of fuel, one that goes into mouths instead of gas tanks and comes in such flavors as teriyaki and pepper.
The iconic motorcycle maker is joining forces with one of the largest U.S. packaged-foods companies, ConAgra Foods (CAG), to sell beef jerky and tap into the growing meat-snack business.

The companies plan to make the announcement today in Las Vegas at the trade show for the National Association of Convenience Stores.

The product, thick slices of smoked lean steak, will sell in packs of 3.25 ounces for $5.99 at convenience and grocery stores, Harley-Davidson dealerships and truck stops. Shipments of the three varieties — teriyaki, pepper and original flavor — will begin Jan. 8, ConAgra said.

It's the first time that Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson has lent its name and black-and-orange logo to a food product, said Tom Parsons, general manager of general merchandise.

The company has considered making edible products in the past, but nothing fit with the brand and its image like jerky, Parsons said. Riders look for good food on the go, so the jerky will be billed as "Road Food," he said.

"You put it in your pocket, keep on eating and keep on riding," Parsons said.

ConAgra, based in Omaha, makes several types of jerky, including Pemmican jerky strips and Slim Jim, one of the best sellers. Sales of meat snacks rose 75% from 2004 to last year, when they reached $2.7 billion, according to the National Association of Convenience Stores' 2006 survey.

I Believe that the people in that video look like Hells Angels throwbacks.
There are a lot of Harleys around here and very few of the riders even remotely look like that. They do all have the leather & boots & t-shirts. The bikes they ride look like the bikes in the video just not the people.
