ok, i know someone here had commented on this little gun. i'm looking to pick one up soon and was wondering if someone had experience with the front sights on the gun and the threaded "target" barrel extension. is the extension worth the extra price? are the front sights easy to change?

I bought one in the spring, not sure if I posted anything about it here or not. In any case, I bought the longer 5" because I intended to only target shoot with it from the start, I can't say how much difference, if any, there is to the sight picture to the 3". My dealer quoted me around $150 for the second barrel assembly, I debated having him order it, but at this point I really can't see any reason as to why I would even want it. (It's not like I'll ever use the thing for concealed carry or anything)
As for changing out the front sight/extension assembly, it's not all that difficult if you follow the process and have the tool. It's not so much an "extension" as it is just a shroud around the longer barrel, although it is threaded. The front sight change is simple enough, it just pops out by pushing on it from underneath, mine came with 3 (mid, high and low) and I haven't had a need to change them out and we've gone upward of 75' with it.
Overall, best .22 pistol I've used. Pretty consistent accuracy wise, well balanced, comes with 2 backstraps to fit most any hand (unless you have something like a bear claw, then it might feel like a twig), good safety features (recessed notch on the side of the frame will lock the trigger, hammer and slide) and just downright smooth, even when just completely filthy. No, I don't own stock in Walther or anything but it does make a Ruger MK II look like scrap metal IMO.
Let me know if you want more info or some detailed pics or something.

thanks jason, that's the kind of info i was after. konto's wise-cracking comment didn't really help much:P
i just want the pistol for cheap plinking and target shooting but wasn't getting much feedback on the longer barrel. i have no desire to conceal and carry either, so the longer barrel doesn't affect me in that sense.
now to decide which color i want...

Dealer had a carbon fiber one there when I bought mine, it looked sweet but couldn't justify the extra cost considering I bought it with the intention of just beating the heck out of it. (.22 ammo is cheap and we go through ALOT of it). Same idea with the nickel.Hooligan wrote:now to decide which color i want...
Green frames on any pistol are just fugly IMO.

Do you mean HK? Or has harley started making a universal selfloading pistol?desmo01 wrote:Ms.Hap, how do you like the .45 XD? How close is it to (handling wise) an HD USP.45?

I have only fired the 9mm USP Match (Super P8 like Laura Croft

So they are really too different to compare.
It is the 5inch model, so it is pretty accurate.
I want an S&W 40cal.
