Dry Clutch

Post by kiwi60 »

Has anyone got access to the dimensions of the clutch hub in the 'kit' dry clutch - were trying to figure out if a ducati unit can be used.

Also, close up photo's / picture's of the clutch cover will be very helpfull as it looks like we may head down to a pattern maker and see about getting some made.

Cheers

Yep I've just finished the rebuild and if I don't run out of beer it will be in tonight :) JOKING of course.
Not sure what Crommie has on his tt porno machine... Drop him a line :)
Look at TZ's for hints regarding differences between stock (wet) and dry set ups... ie: rd 400 and TZ350. Gearbox shafts may be a problem. But who knows. I'll have one!

K,

Enlighten me,
Why exactly do you want to mount a Dry clutch instead of finding out how to install a good slipper clutch instead?

Aren't dry clutches loud as all get out also?

Not nocking, just want to know why really, I've been hunting for slipper mod but.....

Unfortunatley the slipper clutch isn't an option as or racing rules don't allow it in the pre '89 class, and besides, dry clutches just look sooooo trick :banana :banana

True,
It looks bitchin' but I'm wondering what the advantages of a dry clutch are? You don't happen to know where a guy could find a slipper clutch for a 1992 1000 do you?

advantage of a dry clutch is that you don't have to drain the oil to change the clutch plates making it much faster for the endurance guys. maybe there is a power advantage as well since you're not sloshing yet another rotating assembly through the oil bath?

plus, they look cool as hell.
