The only price I've seen so far is $500 - which I presume is US$, I'm still trying to contact the Aussie/NZ distributor to find out when they'll be available here and how much. How muchy is that one?

I've seen promises of these arriving in Aus for about 2 years now, I think
the last one was about 6 months ago saying they'll be here in a year
for about AU$900. I wonder if they're actually any good as a helmet,
apart from the rear vision thing.

Ah well, if that's the case I'll grab another Arai - the last one seemed to stand up to what I put it through quite well...I've seen promises of these arriving in Aus for about 2 years now, I think

Um, well, in a manner of speaking - yes.Did you break it? poke poke
It bounced off the armco hard enough to go through the gel-coat in several places, and my way of thinking is that it had done it's job in protecting the grey matter so it was duly cut in half (so no one else could use it) and tossed out in the rubbish, closely followed by the Alpine Star gloves which had been worn through in the palm area...

OUCH!
Kinda skeptical with the rear vision helmet really, reckon it would be cool don't get me wrong, but; haven't we got enough shit on our minds competing for our brain's processing power when we're riding, let alone now being able to see the asshole cager that's 10feet of the rear tire? That combined with a $1000 price tag, I'll be still searching out my bargain HJC crap I guess.

Yes Yes I know, I said, I'm building a project YZF1070
Basement is done now, 850 finished and gone...
Gotta get the new siding up on the house.
Fixing the FZ1 up, cleaning up garage and then I might even begin

On the track it's always an advantage to know exactly what's happening behind you and this would be better than trying to steal a quick look over your shoulder at 250kph - IF the helmet is well made and actually works like they say.Kinda skeptical with the rear vision helmet really, reckon it would be cool don't get me wrong, but; haven't we got enough shit on our minds competing for our brain's processing power when we're riding, let alone now being able to see the asshole cager that's 10feet of the rear tire? After my latest helmet perforamance test (hmm - does this make me a crash test dummy...), I have no hesitation in shelling out some $$$ for a good lid (always have, always will) and fortunatley my darling wife thinks along the same lines.

For racing,
Yeah, I agree Graham,
However for street riding where sand, pea gravel, and hay bails from run offs are replaced with steel poles, concrete, and other objects what would help in shearing off body parts; not to mention all the idiots driving their SUV, EUV, and MPV's, I'll have to pass myself. Very slick idear/helmet though for sure.

I dunno, personally I have no problem in the car with a rear view mirror and a door mirror each side.

I reckon I disagree with that one Kiwi on track or in life. I would never waste a second looking back. How many times have you seen riders pipped at the post because they were worried about what was behind rather than what was ahead?kiwi60 wrote:On the track it's always an advantage to know exactly what's happening behind you.

Nah, I'd always want to be aware of just who is trying to line me up down the straight for a pass under braking so I can close the door on them
