SA MotoGP

Hard luck Ton Up, you missed one of the greatest races it has been my privilige to watch. Rossi has now proved to the world what a fantastic talent he is. He rode the wheels of that Yamaha to beat Biaggi on what was obviously a better bike. Rossi is the ONLY rider to win back to back Premier Class (i.e. GPs) with differenet constructors. He also shares with Barry Sheene the record of winning 4 the opening GPs of the season in a row. I was not a fan of his either before this, although I knew he was very good, I could only gape in awe at his superb ride on the ragged edge. Remember the next nearest Yamahas finished 9th and 10th, his team mate a good 39 seconds behind over just 28 laps!

Yes MotoGp is going to be really interesting this year.

Finally being able to read back through the posts since I saw what I wanted to reply to last night.....

Rossi has never been arrogant. I'm a Yamaha rider that has worked for Honda dealerships (just to place the context of my opinion) and think that some people must be a little missled. He is a very humble motorcycle rider that has a limited grasp of the english language (which has come a long way over the last 3 seasons) and the fact that he ommits certain words from his comments and speeches makes him look like he doesn't care. I'd like to see many of us "english" speaking people do a post race speech in Itailian or "Japlish" as we call it over here.

Sorry, but I'm passionate about talent which Valentino Rossi clearly has in bucketloads and has proved to the world in the first motogp of 2004.

Fu<K Honda

love you all.

Oh yeah, Rossi was slidiing. Hell, he lit the rear up several times exiting turns, which was said to never have happend on that paticular bike. And yes, he "backed it in" (as they say) several time. Frickin awsome.

Did I hear something about a party?

Tim

Director of Entertainment (eddieandthecrusiersmc.com).

jjs777, thanks for the offer of the CD's, I may take you up on that. I'm still waiting to find out if any of the other TV stations here will have delayed coverage.

hmmm....Sure looked to me and the two commentators that Rossi WAS sliding his bike, hence the parapharase from the announcers "AND ROSSI! IS SLIDING THAT YAMAHA LIKE WE HAVE SEEN NO ONE DO BEFORE!"

Kinda sticks in my mind and thats where I got up and started yelling and rooting for him to GO! GO! GO!

Yes I agree with his bad english making him seem somewhat arrogant which I do not believe is the case.

If anyone has a right to be arrogant then The Doctor does! But he is not, he broke down in tears at his win in SA. The man is human but we have the privilege of watching his finest hour. i was not a fan of his before, but seeing him ride the wheels of that yamaha i know now i was watching something special. GO!!!!!! Rossi!

Post by mintclint »

Yeh but we've all seen Rossi slide I was more impressed with his freestyle technique into corners. Spilt my beer on mates several times while he putting on a show

I beleive he rode with more than just skill in SA, He put every bit of himself into that race and was not only physically exhausted at the end but mentally and emotionally too.

I wonder if they put another "!" on the end of GO we'd see him bring another second off his lap times? Sheesh with ideas like that I should be a GP technician

I wonder if anyone would agree that the Yamaha will be outgunned by the honda when they get to a track that affords long straight away passes!

Yes I'm ecstatic for the Yamaha of course, BUT I'm afraid the Honda horsepower is gonna reel it in like the catch of the day - despite the obviously insane talents of Rossi. That SA track demanded lots from the rider with mid-speed sweepers which didn;t allow the honda to flex it's muscle.

Regardless, as someone already so accurately stated, this years GP will be one to watch for sure!

The link that you posted John, really showed how rough the track was. I didn't notice it in the race, but they didn't show a full lap off the back of Rossi's bike either.

Tim
Director of Entertainment (eddieandthecrusiersmc.com).

ya know - I think I'm still coming to grips with the fact that he won. I have been watching 250/500-GP WSBK since 93 and this is really awesome. Having lost Doohan, Beattie, Rainey, Schwantz, KRj, SR, Max, Foggy to name a few, this is gonna be a great season -

my friend thinks they have now 'honda-ized' the yamaha - I was ready to come out swinging! but there may be some rationale behind that statement.
