Raceglass preparation
Got some raceglass for the FZR, before I go and make a hash of fitting it, any tips on drilling, etc, is there a preferred drill type to avoid splintering or cracking for example? Any other tips?

Lay some masking tape on both sides of where your drilling and let the drill do the work - don't force it through cause thats when the heart ache begins, oh yeah - use a nice sharpe drillany tips on drilling, etc, is there a preferred drill type to avoid splintering or cracking for example?

I ended up getting a spare set that Butler had made previously. They are off the 90-93 EXUP. As it has become clear that P6 cut-off will be 12/90 then these will be period compliant. I would prefer the right glass for my model but life is one long feckin' drawn out compromise so these'll have to do. While the bikes were essentially the same the top fairing, side panels and mounts are quite different. They'll fit up but it's not a straight swap job, it'll take some fiddling about (since when did anything to do with any of this bike stuff involve anything other?) I'd say if I'm in a calm mood it'd be a 4 beer job to fit it all up. Got a tailpiece too but its way different, plus designed to fit over the stock seat which I'd like to get off, being 2kg.
I still think an OW01 tailpiece is best so I'm still after one. Good to see you are getting some stuff organised for your bikes, how soon will we see one out on a track somewhere?? I feel a track day coming on.....

I could drag the FZR750 out and see how it goes. It has the stock 18 inch rear wheel with a new slick fitted, may as well wear it outJasonL wrote:I feel a track day coming on.....

Might have a spare ow seat section when it all arrives as I have a new oem style FZ raceglass seat so probably wont need it.
Steve,
Not sure if I'll do the 1 hour, I had planned to but costs are an issue at the moment, time off work etc. It is a good weekend though, get lots of track time and if you can jag a second ride in the F3 and/or bucket 1 hour its very good track time per dollar value.
I'll see how things look after the PCRA Broadford round.

Have to do the Broadford round, take on the old PCRA guys on my home turf!! It'll be an FZR cup by the look of things....
Seriously though, leaving aside a probable similar entry fee, car fuel and accom etc for the 1hr would be $500 min. That wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't gone up and /or back 4 times (or is it 5?) in the past year....I'd rather put the bucks toward the Barry Sheene as I can't justify both and I know which one I'd rather be at!!
