My my my carona

Post by kiwi60 »

Thought I'd start a thread as we're all going through the same thing with this covid19.

Personally I'm taking my usual 'take the piss out of everything" view of it so here's a couple of laughs:

On a more serious note, don't take this thing lightly in relation to it's ability to spread.
If you need help - ask for it, talk to your bank if finance is becoming or has become an issue and above all - be safe out there.

I'm with you Kiwi! My job got Covid-ed and I'm on self isolation until Saturday because I was around someone infected. So far I'm not showing any signs, but that doesn't mean I'm not a carrier.

Be careful, cautious, and courteous to others. We will survive (at least most of us.)

PS: 20sec min on had washing.

Let us know when you’re all clear Dude, thinking of you and your family.

New Zealand has been put into a 4 week isolation from tomorrow which effectively closes every non essential business, including our furniture showroom.

Personally my wife and I are ready for a rest and might even do a bit of decorating around the house, but money will be getting real tight real quick.

The whole country is in the same boat and the government is providing financial relief which we’ve already accessed so 2020 looks like a being ‘interesting’.

The national shut down is the right thing to do at the timings right if we’re going to beat corona19.

Unfortunately the liquor shops are not deemed essential business so I grabbed a couple of bottles of whiskey but at least the supermarkets sell beer and wine

Be safe everyone and take care.

I've been watching the Australian Covid19 reaction on TV and I have to agree.

I'd say just stay at home and lock the hatches for as long as you can and if you need to head into town then common sense will get you through OK.

All the banks here are moving towards a mortgage holiday for up to 6 months which will ease a lot of stress for a lot of people, plus the government are setting up long term guaranteed business loans to make sure the country stays open for business after the crisis is over.

Personally it's just one day at a time and looking after each other.

Lyle is holed up on his own but I'm regular in regular phone contact with him.
He's still doing a bit of work from home but otherwise he's in the garage getting the motor together for the E.L. FZ750 bolted together and no doubt he'll get the whole project well and truly advanced of the next three weeks.

I spent an arvo making patterns for some new side covers the other day but on reflection I quite like the open look so I'll wait until I can get some black plastic corrugated conduit and I'll hide the wiring in that.

If I get bored there's always the CB125 motor to work on :)

Take care

Stan called me and joked that I've been a self isolationist for the last many years in the shed. Life hasn't changed for me very much, I've always got plenty to do, thought I am the sole carer of my 91 year old mum... And it's a job I take very seriously. I'll keep her safe and alive... You can be sure of that!

Two and a bit weeks into isolation and the FZR's all done and ready for a nice long ride, I've cleaned and painted the CB125S engine and side cases but now heed to get the cylinder bored and new valve seats cut before I progress any further.

The whiskey stock is holding out OK but I've had to replenish the wine a few times.

Been going out for a few walks with my wife, we've got to keep it local and maintain a minimum 2 meter distance from anyone else, but the weather's beautiful and there's Pinot Gris in the fridge when we get back.

All in all, it's going OK, what about the rest of you guys - how are you holding up?

:o We had exactly the same thing here with toilet paper not on the shelves a few weeks ago.

Was at the supermarket yesterday and saw a man in spray painters overalls with all cuffs taped, painters respirator and a face shield, had a bit of a laugh at first but then realised that he could have been something line a cancer survivor so this would be a safe way to venture out.

I think NZ and Australia are starting to come out of the worst of it now but the UK and USA have a fair way to go yet.

Hang in there everyone, we’ll get there.

Has anyone heard from Tim (FZR DUDE), he was tested a week ago? I’ve PM’d him but haven’t got a reply.

Michael is also noticeable by his absence.

I am fine folks. I was not tested, but the place I was working did have a couple of co-workers that did test positive and I did interact with at least one of them during the time frame that was in question. At no time have I or my wife felt ill during this.

Just hanging out at the house being beyond lazy and getting less than 1% of projects completed due to lack of finances. Not overly concerned at the moment.

That's really good news Tim, it looks like the US has been hit really hard with this dam thing.

We've had a rigid lock-down for the last 4 weeks which seems to have stopped the rapid spreading of covid, but has decimated many businesses and self employed people.

Were about a week away from slowly starting to come out of lock-down and then the country has to start rebuilding it's economy which should start to happen two weeks after that.

If there is an upside to all of this it's that families have been forced to spend time together and as a result have actually had to get to know each other instead for just happening to sleep in the same place. It's almost like everyone's discovered a lifestyle similar to the '60's where entertainment was home grown. As a country we're fortunate that we're an island nation at the other end of the planet. The problem we're facing is that our biggest industry - tourism is dead and won't be back anytime soon.

Ah well, were all in the same boat and hopefully we can learn to paddle together again.

Like I said, is really good to hear you're all doing good, enjoy the down time the best you can.

 hi folks, I know it's been like 10 years since I was active; so if you remember me at all then I'm really impressed :D

All safe here. Since a family member has low immune system, I have been indoors the whole time, absolute minimum trips out, and then with precautions. Glad to hear you are safe.

Have got the '09 FZ1-S back to stock and ready for sale, and the daily drive doesn't need any love.
So I finally got the chance to start bringing life back to the 95 FZR1000. New battery, fuel, and turned over the motor for the first time in nearly a decade. Didn't fire, so it's gonna need a bit more tickling; but I have the time.
