Haven't been on for a bit as the home computer operating system went to hell and I didn't want to loose all the files with a complete system install. Wasn't able to repair the damaged system files.

Picked up a new Sytemax Custome built Venture with a P4 duel 3 Gig processor with a 250 and a 300 SATA hard drives, 2 gig of DDR2 RAM, NVidia GeForce 6800 GS W/256 meg of DDR2. This is going to be fun for photo/vid editing and gaming......

Once I pull all needed files of the old computers hard drives, I'll do a clean install of the OS and give it to the kids..

I was wondering where you wre Jim. I know the tracks are opening soon, so between you, Kontoboy and CopperSlip, it's the only "local" racing I get to see...

I feel your pain.... :( Just lost the hard drive in my laptop, and it had some important documents on it  It started acting up, and I knew it was coming, so I was trying to use my home network to copy them to my home computer when it went. Got nothing copied....

outlaw - for the bad laptop hdd - often times you can install them in a cheap $5 ebay 3.5" usb connector kit and access at least a portion of the files

Well, I actually managed to get the laptop back up and running.... for now
The hard drive had a corrupt boot sector. That, combined with the fact that the boot sequence used the hard drive 1st, and cd 2nd really caused problems for me. Once I changed the boot sequence and made a boot CD, it wasn't too hard to fix things.

I'm pretty sure the hard drive is on its way out (I've had this happen before with a different laptop). I did manage to get the files i needed, and I burned them on CD just in case. :banana
