about 2 inches of water in the new construction/basement

had the drill/pump going since 8am and is now 0105pm and just barely making some progress with steady rain all day

as the thread title says...about 2.83 inches of rain my neighborhood according to weatherbug

well we are hitting some records here in the north shore

my local area got at least 5 inches of rain yesterday and we are up to an additional 4.66 inches right now ~sunday 2pm~

all the stores have run out of sump pumps and accessories

I've had as many as 3 drill attached pumps going to rid my new cellar of water - as I use that as an entrance to my home

nearby towns with rivers and streams have been delcared disaster areas by the guvhna of massachusetts

forget the original title of the thread...

at least 10" of rain in 48 hours and we are expecting another 3-5 inches

Try calling some of the local pool supply places. They have pumps for cleaning water off pool covers, in addition to trash and pool pumps.

Its a good thing there's a gap in that concrete wall else you'd have a new pool instead of extension to the house

Its raining heavy here in the UK.....but nothing like that....YET

It's over 30ºC here and the reservoirs are at 50% with the summer just starting.

It's a shame we can't trade a little.

I wish....no gap in the concrete - thats just a partial cut in the concrete slab to allow for controlled stress cracking

so no way for water to evacuate on its own...

I used up to (3) drill attached pumps with garden houses attached

did the trick....albeit slowly

We get some of that in the Snoqualmie valley here in the late fall, but ten inches in 24 hour's would completely drown them too.

the story was that the home owners ~just~ closed on the house a week prior

they likley didnt have floord insurance and normal insurance will sometimes deny coverage for flooding damage

Yup, there is going to be a few of those stories............and it sucks for them, I'm sure..
You remember the Ohio river valley floods of the late '90's though?
People moved back in and re-did some of those properties after the first round of flooding, and some of them came out Ok after that.
I would have to go back over the history of that event to quote anything for sure,
and there's probably some brotherhoodlums that were much closer to that event than I am,
but big flood events, as bad as they are - can create oportunities later at times.
I hope there were more covered by flood insurance than not though, I wouldn't want to have to go and rebuild my place anytime soon...

just north of where I am...about 30 miles a real tornado that picked up a truck and flung it on the interstate

this same storm...had me under my makeshift plastic roof (first pic in this thread) becuase the wind was picking it up ...so i was moreless holding it in place

I cant believe a tornado was just 30 some odd miles...

And I recall looking at the sky and dark clouds thinking just that before the incident...imagine if we had tornadoes
