Exciting ride to work this morning

Post by NoItsNotAnR1 »

So I'm cruising along in the right lane and this SUV driver in the left lane suddenly decides to move to my lane. No signal, no mirror check, no blind spot check (which I wasn't in anyway). She just came over and hit her brakes halfway through the lane change for no apparent reason. I was maintaining speed and all of the sudden I was on top of her.

Grabbed a handful of front, brought the rear off the ground, and rolled like that for a few feet. My nuts ate the tank. I jumped into the left lane and gave her a gesture to show I thought she was "number one".

You already know the expression on her face. We've all seen it before. She was shrugging her shoulders and mouthing "I didn't see you". It was almost laughable.

Anyway folks, don't forget that big safety cushion. I thought mine was plenty big, but it almost wasn't.

Glad you made it out ok. I was heading home the other day on they highway and a semi was about a full truck length ahead in the right side lane. All of a sudden I see little black things flying all over the place. "Oh, sh!t" I say. Sure enough...tire blew. Actually I'm not sure if it was his own tire or a truck in front of him. Either way it got caught up in his rear wheels and shredded the hell out of it. The main part of the carcass came flying out and ended up in my lane. Luckily I had enough time to see it, slow down a bit and swerve out of the way.

Funny how the normal casual ride you're used to can change in a heartbeat.

Thanks, Nate.

I heard a term for the big chunks of semi tires coming apart like that once. Highway gators or something. That's probably way off, but I recall thinking it was funny. Not so funny when coming at you.

Hell I had a asshat in a new Range Rover pass me on the left. BTW I should say I was already in the left lane on the interstate when he did this. Ever see what those great Icon Ti-maxx gloves can do to a paint job of a passing vehicle?

I think Tim is the guilty one that gave me the idea of carrying around old spark plugs. Somebody else suggested a handful of ball bearings. Apparently when they're dropped at around 60mph they can get pretty nasty. :poke

Tim - you do realize this thread calls for you story about how your foot ended up attached to somebody's car door :laughing

I've carried 240 gr .44 JHP bullets (just the bullets, no case or powder) in my pocket before. Never once had to drop one by accident.

Don't kick their door in

Post by straygator »

I was passing very slow traffic on the left shoulder, when this guy in a toyota 4x4 all decked out tries to stop me by swerving left to pin me aganist the divider. I had too much speed to stop ( it was raining) so I went for it and kicked his drivers door ( which caved in and I heard the down window break) Well the sob came after me like a crazy fool, and forced me to an uncomfortable speed.( was riding a CBX which is uncomfortable at any speed in the rain) Chase went on for 6 mi when I exited at a big jam up where I could go and he couldn't. I was affraid to commute on that road ever again and my knee was sore for 2 months. It was just a sharp karate kick, if I had locked my knee I would have done serious damage to it. Better to do like the truck drivers do and toss a piss bottle at em !!!
