fuse box melted!

well, the part with the head fuse on it did!

now I have to buma ride home from work cuz its dark and no headlights

guess im tracking down wires to find a culprit

any suggestions on places to look???

I'd start with the iggy switch.

When I was working at a Yamaha dealer here in Dallas a long time ago I saw a lot of melted fuse boxes. We found that it was most often caused by corrosion in the fuse holder itself. Sometimes the connectors that the fuse plugs into would also become loose and cause the fuse tabs to overheat. Very seldom did I see this caused by a wiring problem. Wiring problems will almost always blow the fuse instead of overheating the connector. I see this quite often in cars also.

guess ill buy a new box, I have a single one, but might as well redo the whole unit

Check the condition of the three phase connector from the alternator very carefully. I have personal experience with this. It's not a pretty sight to see your alternator windings glowing red.....
