Any truth to this?

If there is it's too late. I've done 1000km gently!
Oh well, there's always a next time.

Cheers

Don't worry, initial ring bedding in is done at the Yamaha factory on a row of dyno machines before the bike gets crated and shipped. I know a dealer who has been there and seen it.

The guy is taking ideas that have been around for years and calling them his own.
Breaking in motors on the dyno is the best way.

Yes, a friend of mine has broken a couple of engines in the same manner and has had ZERO issues.

Now that you have 1000k on the engine go for it!!
All the new race bikes we ran in for racing, we bedded them for about 500KM then took them to the track & raced them. Never had an issue.

I went for it, and it didn't break. Still not sure about about the power output though.

Sometime in the next couple of weeks I'm gonna check on that crank marker and cam timing business again, and if I did get lucky and it's on the money I'll try richening up the needle jet one notch.

Cheers everyone.
