The R6 slipper clutch I requested assistance obtaining from the US turned up today. It was with help of a member, who's nick is 97YZF1000, that I have to thank without reservation. I had never had contact with, nor spoken to Tony prior, but he came to my aide, with his own $ and more so trust.
Out of it, and the many pleasant emails back and forth, I have not only a clutch, but knowledge of a great guy, who stuck his neck out for me. So Tony, thanks a bunch. And I will at some point in time buy you that beer in person! In the mean time, i hope the port and cigars are well enjoyed
Thanks again.
Ralph

Hey Ralph glad I could out a fellow biker and forum member. It's things like this that make these forums work so great. And not to worry the port and cigars will be put to good use
You better start working on getting that clutch fitted. There are a lot of anxious people out there...

Yeah like me with my slipping plates and cracked basket...

it's my daily ride to work,
and I've only borrowed dad's bike as backup for 4 more weeks.
Think I might start looking around for one anyhow, kev seems to
know it will fit (edit - fit YZF750, and therefore with a primary gear
change fit a FZR1000)... but I will still watch your thread anxiously...

It's not going to be that simple I'm afraid, I still need to remove the YZF750 clutch and have a look, it does not fit either of the Fz models. (Basket or center) The boss will not work for any of them.
The plates are the same size sure, but the stack is about a cm taller, and the rivet spacing different. (hopefully the basket rivet spacing is the same as the YZF?) Not saying it is has been a waste of time as yet, but.... It could be just talk.
At this point in time the only interchangeability is the plates. The prognosis may improve. Will post photos this weekend so you can see what I'm talking about.
Tony (lol)... Do you realize it has only been ten days since I put up the request for help! It takes longer to get a box from interstate here
Considering there was an ebay transaction, the item shipped to you, and then shipped to me from half way around the world... bloody amazing

Well, I bit the bullet and bought an R6 slipper clutch. It'll probably
be two weeks before it arrives, but we're in this together,
spook! Can I ask where are you sourcing your basket rivets?

Have not gone that far yet Cam. Didn't you say orient express at some point? I'll wait until I get the YZF750 basket out before I spend any more $. If I go ahead we can probably organise to to source and buy jointly? Also, I will have Cad next week, so will send you a copy. Cheers.

Well I am glad to hear it got there so quickly. I guess the timing was nearly perfect. I won the item on eBay that night and the seller shipped it right away. I was impressed that the post office got it to Australia so quickly. Took only six days from the day I shipped it.

Yeah I contacted Orient Express and they can supply a kit of backing plate,
stronger primary gear cush springs, and rivets, for basket rebuild.
They also supply baskets, plates, pressure springs, etc which are listed
on their website.

I was looking at the Orient Express website and they list some good looking clutch parts for the FZR models. Let me know what you think of the kits they send you. I have been thinking of placing an order with them myself.

Port and cigars? Why didn't you say there was port and cigars in the deal. I would have sent over the whole damn bike for port and cigars
Seriously, it was cool to see how things work out between members of the Brotherhood ... even half way around the world
