headers question

Post by spook »

I'm wondering what headers I would be best using with a YZF750 engine with Ace crank etc. I guess it will be a Thunderace engine. What interchanges? early FZR? exup? Is there any difference in angles fitment etc. Cheers!

I think I remember reading that the YZF750 headers are a little
bit tighter fit around the bottom of the crankcases
(probably due to the shorter stroke on the crank making
a shorter block). But they might still fit if there is only a few
mm difference.

What head are you using? If you are using the YZF750 head
then you'd need to make the YZF750 pipes fit - the part numbers
for exhaust gaskets are different which probably means a different
diameter.

Beware - early (87-88) FZR1000-Genesis are different intake port
spacings and probably different exhaust spacings as well, so they won't fit.

Okay, I'll check out spacings etc. More than likely the YZF750 head. the answer is probably here in the shed! If any one has had experience with the differences in fitment yell out! Cheers,

I think hotcam is right. Don't think the 'Ace headers will fit with the YZF750 head.
