Diameter rear axle YZF750

The threads on the rear axle of the Spondon have stripped (Christ, I used a torque meter for the first time ever and *CRACK*)

I know the rear wheel is standard FZR1000, probably 1990, but the axle isn't the same diameter... it's bigger on the Spondon. I'm guessing they used different bearings and the axle off a YZF but before I go ordering.....

Would someone please confirm whether the rear axle on the YZF is 20mm outside diameter?????

Thanks a million... and this is URGENT, we're supposed to setting off on a 12 day trip the day after tomorrow.

The rear wheel axle on the FZR 1000 EXUP (all years) is 20mm

The rear wheel axle on the YZF 750 is 25 mm

John, sorry but I cannot get to my axles.... I have both a YZF750 and FZR1000.

Best recollection... the rear axles are FZR1000=27-ish mm and YZF750 =39-ish mm (maybe 37) but the YZF750 is CONSIDERABLY larger.

Thanks Guys, that makes finding a replacement much easier, tomorrow, in a scrappy.

I guess with the "OhMyG*dWhatTheF@ck" I got carried away... I measured the axel on the FZR where the threads are, you know, without taking the back wheel off (17mm)... and the axle on the Spondon where the bearing goes (20mm) and guessed that they were different.
The axle was Spondon, lightweight, so with hindsight it wasn't such a good idea going by the torque settings laid out in the FZR manual.
The replacement will be stock. I don't need to save that kind of weight!

Couldn't you see my post above yours Tim??

You know, the one where I gave Yoniboi the correct sizes.

Is my post invisible or what?

Yeah, I guess everyone wondered about that a little, but then you read the post where he's going skiing with two busted legs and you think of House, and Vicodin, and it all makes sense :poke :) :)

I really can't quite remember just now, and I can't find the original post, but the Dude hurt himself skiing, went to get an X-Ray and it turned out the not only had he indeed busted his leg BUT that it was already busted in another place from a previous prang and he hadn't realised... so it was Dude off the bike and off the skis for most of this (now past) ski season.

That's probably why he's gone now, when the snow's like lemon sorbet, just to get at least one last run in this year!

The reference to House and his pills was just a joke. Nothing more.
