If you have an overhead joist/beam in your work area, use tie-downs and suspend it from the ceiling. Do all of your loosening and tightning of bolts while the bike is on the ground, for safety.
Tim
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ...
Has anyone seen my keys?
Dir. of Entertainment Eddie & the Cruisers
'94 FZR 1000

I prefer to use front and rear stands. You can completely tear down a bike on these if need be. Good front stands will lift from the pivot head of the triple clamp not under the forks.

Rear stand

Front stand

With this type of front stand you can take the forks right off the bike for working on them off the bike. There are other brands that will do the same thing, Pit Bull being another quality set of stands.

I use a front and rear stand to do wheel job, my front is the fork kind and work enough, but the best way to remove fork or work on stem bearing is to put wooden block under the exaust, that is the safest and more stable way. you have to use a rear stand anyway, with wood block or front stand any kind.

Hey Marcelo, here's an old thread on both lifting the bike and also different stands. <a href="http://p072.ezboard.com/fexupbrotherhoo ... Also, you can see that floor jacks work in my pic on the swingarm, but I hung mine from a rafter too....
Nbot
'94 Fizzer Litre
