As I was servicing the exup valve on my 97 Thunderace, 2 of the bolts that hold the cover broke, the 3rd one was just impossible to take out, so I flexed the cover back and forth until it broke off from the remaining bolt. I was able to service the exup, aligned, and lubed the thing and the rattle is gone. But i have no cover now, if you asked me i don't think that cover does much, and i would leave it like that, But i have to ask the experts here. What could happen if i leave it without the cover?
