Hey 'Dude,

What are the difficulties involved in using the original EXUP wheel? I'm picking up an Ohlins shock this week, some dog bones are on the way (thanks Michael) and I've got the YZF swingarm in the garage. Most of the posts I've seen use the YZF wheel but I was hoping to make do with the original wheel and brake setup. I haven't stripped the original arm off yet so I don't know if I'm asking for trouble yet. Any ideas if it will be a problem?

Also, I've read that you need to get a smaller battery for clearance. Where do plan on sourcing your gel battery?

Hey Jim,

I'm really slacking as of late. Trying to wind up the repairs at home, as well as an expansion at work.

From what I can tell, is that the axle of the YZF is like 37mm and the axle of the FZR is something like 28mm. With that being said, I think you may run into an issue of the axle flopping around in the swingarm.

Of course you could have some special adapters/chain adj made up with the inner dia of the adj the outer of the axle and the outter of the adj protruding and the dia the same as the onner of the swing arm.

If that isn't confusing, I don't know what will help. I just figured it'd be easier if I had as many parts that were bolted to the swingarm as I could/can.

So where am I? Only a tad bit closer than I was in my last post. :sad

I think I see why everybody uses the YZF wheel. Thanks for the info 'Dude. I'll have to spend an hour in the garage with my swingarm, wheel and a beer to see if I should try that.

Wheels went to the powder-coaters today, swingarm gets picked up on Sunday.

Okay, I got the wheels and the triple back from the powder-coaters. The triple matches the frame and the rear wheel looks KILLER. The front wheel....... well.... lets just say that I didn't look at it very well and it's got some bad pitting. It was painted none-the-less and looks as good as it can. It'll remain a spare/track day wheel and I'll just have them do the wheel that's on the bike now.

Once the tires show up (in about a week) I should be ready to get really involved in this. This is a new preliminary list of thing going to be done.

Measure and set sag at current state.
Install swinger and figure geometry for the new dogbones.
Install new bones.
Reset and adj sag.
Ride the piss out of it.

Here's the triple before I install it, not that it has anything to do with the current project...

These are the spacers for the rear wheel that DR Jim made up for me.
Ain't they purdy?

It's only been like a year now and I'm still waiting to see pics of your FZR with the YZF750SP swingarm conversion!! LOL!!!
