Rear Shock/Spring

Post by Nbot »

Allright, since I just learned a whole bunch about shock's valves setup etc and spring ratings for my dirt bike, where are some cool links for the fizzer? If you're bored or got some good ones, otherwise I'll look around. I'm sure that my rear shock hasn't been touched for years and probably needs a service/oil change. Does it use nitrous? maybe a recharge? Sorry if this has already been posted before. And sorry that I'm posting w/o even reading my haynes. But I just loooove typing!!
Nbot
'94 Fizzer Litre

shock

Post by creed12r »
The rear shock can be serviced by a specialist company, contrary to what it states in the manual, mine started leaking after about 12,000 miles and people say that they are usually due for changing at about that mileage. So I went for OHLINS and have never looked back.
The shock is serviced with oil and NITROGEN not NITROUS which I think you might find rather explosive.
chris

hahhahhahh...isn't code talk fun?? Yeah, Mint, looks like you need the wiring relay and xenon bulbs too! Oh, and Creed, I suppose you're right about the nitrous stuff....I was talking to the guy that's rebuilding my enduro shock and he says that shocks are supposed to be looked at/oil changed?/every year or at least every 2! But maybe that's just for dirt bikes b/c they get so much work........he also does for gixxer shocks, maybe I'll talk to him about fizzer's...he's doing mine for like $100 cheaper than any shop....but he's got the nitrogen set-up, shock tools, lathe to make seal drivers, and experience.
Nbot
'94 Fizzer Litre

I believe that the fzr shock is welded together. A lot of the stock cheapies look that way. Has someone ever had an FZR shock rebuilt?

Yep, the FZR unit is welded together like a lot of std shocks on bikes these days. I haven't had an FZR one done before, but have sent numerous BMW and Honda sealed units to a specialist to be rebuilt. They come back like new.
Clint.

'87 FZR1000T
gen·e·sis (jen-i-sis)n. pl.:The coming into being of something; the origin.
