has anyone replaced their hyvo chain.. If so could anyone give me a rundown of it. I.E parts and what needs to be replaced and where to order 88 FZR 1000 <p></p><i></i>

Yup...I have<br>Bikebandit.com will have parts<br>remove engine and dissassemble till you get to the bare crank<br>then put it back together.<br>you have to remove the head, cyl to get to the two bolts that are hidden between #2 and #3 to remove the lower case<br>may as well big bore it and cam chain and bearing and gearbox it while you're there. At that point you should look at the head and valves...port it while it's apart<br>At this point you'll be into it for about $5500 in parts if you get the trick valve gear....Ask me how I know!<br>Are ya SURE it's the Hyvo chain???????? <p></p><i></i>

I'm not sure at all that's what FZRdude post on another thread.. I just have a weird noise coming from the clutch housing area. What do you think? Read the thead on tech/tip title weird noise<br><br>thanks <p></p><i></i>

Play it cool, guy!<br><br>Its noisy, that's how it was designed, and there is no problem with it. There is no tensioner on it so it slaps around a little at idle. It's a big ass chain that connects your alternator and starter to the crank and it really has an easy life. Its swimming in oil and sees very little load and should really last the life of your bike.<br><br>All you need to do is make sure that the noise is not something else, which could pose a problem. What you described sounds like the hyvo chain, except the noise at 2500 rpm. I personally have not heard mine, or others, knock at that rpm. Maybe you have a keener ear, maybe there is something else knocking around. Find someone in your local that has one and compare the sound. Check your oil and filter for chips. Just make sure that you don't have a problem. Chances are, you don't. <p></p><i></i>

thanks for the good advice, I have scheduled an appointment with a bike shop. On thing though I rode the bike around and notice it still makes the noise at any rpm its just hard to hear with the loud pipes I have.. but I will have it looked at by a shop and keep you guyz posted as to what it is. <p></p><i></i>

You know what it could be too...<br>I hav ea CB1000 Honda that when the carbs get a bit out of adjustment it starts to knock a bit...because of the uneven idle<br>Are the carbs nicely sync'ed<br>And I'm the guy that told Tim about the hyvo chain noise when we went for a ride a while ago<br>But I've never heard one that made noise at 2500rpm<br>Jim <p></p><i></i>
