EXUP Valve with exhaust header?
EXUP Valve with exhaust header?
Ok, got another question in regards to the EXUP valve on my 1994 FZR1000. I just got a D&D exhaust header for my bike off Ebay, my question is if I put this on will it effect the EXUP valve or is there something I need to do b4 I can put it on?

Re: EXUP Valve with exhaust header?
If I understand you correctly, you have a complete D&D exhaust, head-pipe and slip-on (there may be a mid-pipe and canister instead)? If so, then by installing it, you will lose the EXUP. It is not something that can be taken out of the Factory head-pipe and put into another system.
Tim
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ...
Insert Joke Here
Dir. of Entertainment Eddie & the Cruisers
'94 FZR 1000

Yes, you are correct, D&D header and a Jardine slip-on, my concern is if I disconnect the EXUP how will it effect the way the bike performs?

You can disconnect the cables, but the servo needs to be plugged into the CDI for the bike to operate correctly.
Tim
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ...
Insert Joke Here
Dir. of Entertainment Eddie & the Cruisers
'94 FZR 1000

Re: EXUP Valve with exhaust header?
Will this hurt the performance or help it?

THe best option for anone THINKING about going full system is to get a big cup of coffee and start reading. Unfortunately, I have over 100 posts on this topic and just can't re type the same things over and over agin. If after reading through what I believe to be 400 posts from everyone here, and you still have a question , please ask away.

Simply put Full system requires a lot more technical ability and time and $$$$$. Gains are a bit more power up top and a bit less weight. Lows are: no low end w/o a lot of tunning, more $$$$$.

OR to QUOTE on of our admin's

The exup valve may have been removed for a few good reasons or just out of ignorance.

Couple good reasons to remove:

1) The exup valve seized or some other system failure and they removed it due to expensive to replace and/or hard to find parts

2) They were running it on the track and there was no need for bottom end performance - which is what the exup valve is designed to do - give better bottom end.

Couple bad reasons to remove:

1) It's a street bike and the previous owner figured he was saving weight and didn;t need that thingy anyways

2) Removing it to gain hp since that thing is just in the way.

CHUCK D.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p072.ezboard.com/bexupbrotherhoo ... hood>Chuck D at: 10/31/04 6:39 pm
