So...
I got me some R6 Gold dots on Ebay and a couple of sets of Brembo Snowflakes... Galfler lines, and EBC double H pads.

Tim calls up and sez "Hey...I got a set of R1 Blue dots that would go a lot better on your bike than them ugly ol Gold Dots"

So, I sold him a set of Brmebos I had and he came by this morning to do the swap. In fact we did a swap amongst THREE FZR's
I did the clearance cuts on Tim's and my forks and I think they came out just dandy.
I have a lot of pics and so does Tim so I'll let him put some up.

There's even some that are pretty funny

FZRDUDE.... at his finest <img src=

My 95 front m/c spongy on my 90 bike...no matter how many times I bled them it was not up to snuff. So before my track day I figured be best to have some stoppers that worked. i did two things...beg a brethren for his old m/c from his 95 bike AND concurrently acquire a m/c rebuild kit off ebay for short money (oem is 'roun 35 bucks for rebuild kit)
Here's a couple quick pics showing the rebuild kit:
here we have the m/c with the hand brake lever & old innards removed, along with the rebuild kit parts consisting of the following
- circlip (sorry correct name escapes me)
- rubber boot aka dust cover
- spring
- rubber for end of spring
- internal valve body actuator (you supply correct name and I'll edit!)
<img src="

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v206/ ...
Haven't tried this yet but looking at the old parts - they were pretty worn and dirty. The spring had lost its sprung - quite shorter than the new replacement and the rubber at end of spring was quite compressed no doubt letting fluid get by causing the spongy feel at the lever.
-John <img src="

well...the replacement m/c worked the best I think they are meant to...but not at my expectations.

I'm thinking yall were on to something with this R1/R6 m/c. By middle to end of my track day the lever was a bit spongy and I even re-bled the lines. Stopping power was good and really didnt fade much thorughout the sessions...but that lever is just not stiff enough. Granted it was getting a good work out over the course of 7 hours.

-John <img src="

I get confused John...You have so many FZR's <img src=
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... Waving.gif ALT=":hi"> Does this one have 6 pots?
I found that when I changes from 6 pots to R1's and I kept the original MC, the lever was VERY hard with little feel. HUGE power, but little feel. I installed an R1 MC and got all the feel back and retained 99.9% of the power.
I have yet to use my brakes hard for 7 hours though...so I can not speak to brake fade....
Jim <img src="

yep so the m/c I got from drjim went on my 90 bike with 6 pots and hel lines. Your m/c certainly felt like my 95 bike...nice feel BUT after so much abuse it went away just as my 95 bike did.

Your brake lever at laguna I tried and it was super stiff - surely something that would be more resistant after a track day to spongyness

so what combo did you have back then jim? at laguna?

-John <img src="
