Fuel Injected FZRs

If you're looking for a fuel injection system for your 600cc or 1000cc FZR - look for a Bimota motorcycle. Bimota used Yamaha engines, along with Ducati and Suzuki engines, in some of their motorcycles. Bimota swapped the carbs for electronic fuel injection in some of the models.
The Bimota YB9SRi, launched in 1996, used the FZR600R and Thundercat engines from Yamaha. This was the only fuel injected 600cc of that era.
The Bimota YB8 Furano, from 1990 to 1994, fuel injected the FZR1000 EXUP engine. The bike even had the EXUP letters on the side. The bike also had 165 bhp. You will be lucky to find any of the 152 that were produced.
The Bimota YB11, introduced in 1996, used the Yamaha Thunderace engine but it was not fuel injected.

A system from a Yamaha GTS would probably also work the motors are nearly the same.

I think you'll struggle there. Neither of those bikes were known for high volume sales. I dont think I've ever seen a GTS on the road, and I doubt I've seen more than a handfull of any bimotas, never mind a specific model.

I'll stick with my trusty carbs, but there have been a few GTS 1000's on Ebay recently.

I had a lookout of interest earlier. Theres 2 on at the moment, still seem to be asking about £2000+
After the trouble I've had getting good 2nd hand yzf750 parts I wouldn't touch something as rare as a gts with a bargepole!. Anything breaks and you're going to be spending serious money.....

i just picked up an old issue of rpm (a brit bike mag) that has a nice write up on the fuel injected bimota.
only a few horsepower were gained over the carb'ed version of the motor, but throttle response was said to be cleaner throughout the powerband.

I've probably got that in the loft. I think I have every single edition. That was a really good mag.

Have had the misfortune to work on 2 GTS's w/fuel injection glitches(not failures just ridability issues) and cannot rec. swap. G

None of the FZR's were fuel injected.

I was thinking about GTS which was an exup one too :cool
Now I`m seriously thinking about injecting my bike, but now I`m going in the MegaSquirt way... This will surely take some time but its doable...
:cool

It wont be an injection from GTS... GTS is too complicated for my needs

it sounds cool, when you can say "hey, my fzr has feul injection :cool "
but if you really get what you expected, i don't think so.
if i had the money to buy an injection kit from a bimota, i'd rather spend it on an big bore kit ore something like that to gain more hp.
