I searched all over but couldn't find anything on this. The thermal tape inside my lowers in nasty and falling off. I'm just wondering if it's recommended to replace it. Anyone running without it? Any cracking or anything from heat exposure?

I had it in my track bike and took it out and all is fine with aftermarket fiberglass bodywork.

You can buy it in sheets or rolls from Lockhart-Phillips.

Thanks, man. Good to know I can get it from LP. Seems like everyone sells their stuff. I'm just running the stock ABS bodywork. I guess I'd like to leave it off if possible. Anyone going without it with stock fairings? I figure it will be fine, but I'm pretty anal and would like to make sure.

the stock yzf750 bodywork warps like a mother. especially at the seam where the uppers meet the lower. everyone i have ever seen is warped here.

I've had my yzf since 94 and the bodywork still fits like a glove, despite me dropping it. All the screws still line and there are no unusual bulges so I guess its unwarped. Could be that the cooler temperatures here in the north of the UK keep everything straight? I put new heat reflective tape on the bottom fairing inner earlier this year. Dunno what the tape is exactly. I've had it years. Its like sticky backed tinfoil. I got it when I used to work for Bae systems. They used to use it to protect a brass bush that was inserted into a titanium forging during a heat treatment process.
Its good stuff and From what I remember used to cost about £30 a roll.
