So i pulled my carbs off again today to adjust float height and couldn't get the buggers back on. i can't get the intake boots onto the intakes themselves. no matter how much i wiggle or how much weight i put on it. i ran out of light before i got them back on.
anyone got any tips? the only thing i can think of is a little motor oil on the lip of the boot to help it slide on.
and yes the clamps are loosened
thanks guys

Lube them.

Actually do both, and if you can put a cold/ice pack over the portion they are going on to.
The rubbers first warm them up with a hair dryer or more carefully with a heat gun, then spray the piss out of them with WD-Fix-Me-40 as well as the intakes the rubbers are receiving and then they'll slide on just like Butta.

I find it's easiest to boil the kettle, pour it into a bowl, and
soak the parts in it for a few minutes. That warms them up good
and no danger of melting them. Also use something to lube the lips of
the intakes or the rubbers, I normally use a thin smear of grease.

I'm gross.... I spit on my finger and rub it around the edge....
....of the intake rubbers.
Christ, what are you all like!
