New WSB round

Post by kiwi60 »

Gidday,

It was announce this week that New Zealand will be hosting WSB from 2010 at the new Hampton Downs track - just 45 minutes from where I live!!!!

Happy - YOU BET!!!!!!!!!

But wait - there's more...

There is a possibility that the NZ Post Classic Racing Association could be asked to provide support races - I must stress that this is only a possibility at the moment and that there is a whole lot of work / negotiating etc etc to be done between all parties before anything is set in concrete.

I imagine that they will run pre'82 machines, as they do in Aussie, but guess what - Lyle just happens to have a 1972 factory GP Kawasaki H2R (that boy has a lot of toys).

As the top riders will probably come over from Aussis (Gardner, Campbell etc), there will be a need to qualify for the event, and alas, neither Lyle or I have the pace that will be required to make a good showing on a machine of that style of power output - bugger.

All is not lost though, there are two possible riders in Auckland and we will be watching their racing this season before deciding if we will approach one to ride.

This is going to be an expensive exercise getting the bike to the performance levels needed to keep the front runners in distant sight, but it's probably the only chance we'll have to be on the tack on the same day as our WSB hero's - and everybody deserves their 15 minutes of fame - so - here we go...

Cheers

Be happy to introduce you to some awesome back roads.

I think we might need to get stan, spook and others over here as well to make it a real party.

did someone say party????

I think Kiwi and Lyle will have more pit crew than they would know what to do with

We ran the supermono at a wsbk meeting many years ago, it was way cool to see your bike on track, via the TV, with the crowd hanging over the fence in the backround

2010 you say.............................
