The Sunday started off well, cool & clear, but man did it heat up fast.

Rob & Zol were already when I got there. The young fella took the FZR down for scrutinreering all good.
Our pratice was called & off we went. All going good then a backfire, I thought [for god sake, NOT AGAIN] came in started to look for a wire or connector loose? found nothing. Started her up, all good again?? Zoltan was flying & I couldnt keep with him. He was in the zone, from the track day, the day before.

Race 1.
I was on grid 9, got of to a good start & had a pretty uneventfull race, untill I came off the bridge & here is Zoltan waving his hand & going real slow!
[Get this, he ran out of petrol!!!] potted around & was classed as a finish & got 13th !!. I got 12th.

Race 2.
Got off to a great start & was about 5th into the first corner & thinking how good is this off the line! After a few laps the GP bikes started to hammer me. Think to myself Zoltan's gonna stick it up the inside soon, but he didnt? He ran off the track on turn 2 he recoved to finish 23rd.
Anyway I finisned in 10th. So far so good and did a 1.23.3 so I am improving thats all that matted to me. I wasnt out there making a dick of myself.

Race 3.
Started from 10th Got a blinder & was 3rd into turn 2. How good does this thing get off the line!!
Had a great race & got pipped on the last lap. Ended 4th & very happy, nearly a trophy on my second race meeting after 19 years.
Zoltan smashed his way from 23rd up to 12th !!! he was in the zone thats for sure.

Rob in NE1 on the VFR750, had a very uneventfull day finishing all races, without any trouble, & enjoyed every minute. So he's a happy boy.
Bloody hot & dry I lost a kg or two, but dont worry Ive put them straight back on

So overall I had a pretty good meeting. Zoltan had a shocker, but knowing him he'll bounce back better than ever. Rob went well.

New Era 2 F1 points for the year.
I finished 5th place.
Zoltan finished 12th.

New Era 1. F1 Points for the year.
Rob finished 8th..

So there you are, the year is over now as far as points go. But I'll be back next year you can bet on it...

For next year..All new colours , raceglass fitted [thanks to David], a weight loss program for the FZR & some more geometry changes.
HEE HAA!!Bring on 09!

An old school track that will soon make way for a housing estate!!!

Great report mate, how good does it fell to be getting some solid results

So about those fairings???

It feels great to keep improving at my age, & on an old bike. Im pretty sure there is a lot more time left in me & the bike. So thats good to look forward to.

Over the next couple of months all the road fairing will be comming off, & the raceglass going on.
Just PM me later in the year.

Was down at Oran Park for the Formula 400's, and was spanner man for a mate of mine, all I can say is what a loss!!!!!!!!!!!
Surely it is a sad state of affairs when a racetrack is lost to housing, it's just not fair!! yet another loss, I was personally involved in the resurection of the Lakeside circuit in QLD, saved from the developers by lodgement of Heritage Listing etc etc.

Old tracks should never die!
Regards
Ozzyfzr

Hopefully I will get to meet sbutler at some events!

Yeah that would be great to catch up sometime. Maybe the Barry Sheene at Easter.
Snooked the developers by a heritage listing! Good move...
I doubt that would happen with OP though. Could you try?? Wish it would. The biggest reason I returned to racing after such a long time, was to have the last race on the track that I had my first race on in 1978.
Just a trip down memory lane before it dissapears forever. sniff sniff.
Heres my first race at Oran in 78>>

Great report, good to know once more that the FZR is a standout in its time
too. I look forward to your next year race photos with the new bodywork
and paint. Good luck with it!

Thanks guys. Dont worry I'll keep up on the latest news from TEAM EXUP . If I can sell the YZF fast enough,
I should be able to make the first round of the chanpinonship at>> www.Wakefieldpark.com.au
Fingers crossed that happens. After that I will be at the Barry Sheene>
http://www.barrysheene.com.au/
Some great pics of last years Barry Sheene>> http://www.barrysheene.com.au/media/
After that its all up to the pennys. One thing that hasn't changed in racing is the cost involved.
Its still expencive!
Steve..
