It took about 5 months of hard work, lots of ideas, and a lot of money to build this... But I'm pretty happy about the results..

Is it just me, or do the before and after pics look the same ....? Except for the addition of braided coolant lines? The 4th pic shows a black belly pan.....
It looks very good, simple but very tasteful. Given only 2 choices in color.... both.

Stickle >> It was from a 97 VFR RC36. But the rearwheel is from a 91... The 97 wheel is only a 5'' x 17'' and the 91 is a 5,5''...
To get the swingarm fitted on a FZR, it is the easiest way to get af VFR RC36 year 93-97. The linkage will almost fit right over.
Here is some pictures of the swingarm makeover
The problem was that the rear shock is a little to the left side of the frame. Not in the center like the FZR shock.
To fit the top of the shock, I made some alu plates:
The linkage in the bottom is stock VFR RC36 (93-97), but I had to make it wider with som spacings (Dont know if that is the right word) so the linkage could fit into the FZR frame...
The swingarm has to be placed in the left side of the frame, so the chain will be straight...
Just ask if you have any questions :cool [/b]

Thanks BoxeDK,
I've got a swingarm from a 91 VFR750 to go into mine, allegedley the seller has already performed all the necessary spacer modifictations and what not, so it's just supposed to be plug n' play for me. However, well let's just say the deal was less then ideal and the thoughts of everything working out %100 for me are quite sketchy as the guy..... well enough said really.....
My rear hoop is from a VFR 800 but that is at least one mod that is completely all ready done for me.

Yes Yes I know, I said, I'm building a project YZF1070
Basement is done now, 850 finished and gone...
Gotta get the new siding up on the house.
Fixing the FZ1 up, cleaning up garage and then I might even begin

No. The VFR swingarm has increased the lenght from center of frontwheel to center of rearwheel, with about 2 cm. Dont know what that is in inches. But the height of the seat has also been increased by 2 cm, so you cant feel the different when you are driving.. I haven't tried it with the knees down in the curves yet... I am just waiting for good weather here in cold Denmark Then I'll give it a try on my new kneeslidersbelsj wrote:What happened with the distance between frame and rear axle, has it been the same after the modification

Nice Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bent my SV a couple of weeks ago, and if the insurance company writes it off, I'll buy it back and do the streetfighter thing as well.

It is the VFR stock triangle linkage... But no, it does not touch the shock. There is about 5mm space between the bracket and the shock, when the bike is liftet from the ground... So no problem at allBB FZR wrote:Nice Job, Dose the bottom Shock bracket from the frame to the new triangle adaptor bottom out on the bottom of the Shock Its looks real close?
Look good through if it works.
By the looks of the setup you have, the swinger is offset to the left by approx 20mm (wheel centreline different to front).
Just thinking out loud, why didn't you make an offset sprocket carrier to go on the hub and placed swinger in centre???? then fabricated a new wider chain slider block (wear pad).
Just my 2c worth, nice bike by the way!!

OzzyFZR >> I am so lucky that if the sprockets are in line, then the wheels are in center to... So no problems at all. No need to make modifications there...
I have tested the drivability of the bike today.... I am suprised so easy it is in the corners... My kneesliders has now touched the ground
