Why I've been neglecting the FZR lately...

The mighty H1R after it's rebuild, ready to go for the first time in ages.

Kawasaki MotoGP, 1970 style...

There was supposed to be a track today but this is Auckland and its the weekend, so of course the forecast is for rain. No power at all until about 7,000 rpm and then it all arrives at once. Fun in the dry but wheelspin city when its wet, and I don't want to risk it on a bike I haven't ridden for a long time.

Another day...

Looks great!

You should get some paint on those exhausts, the rust spoils it.

Old motorcycle photographer's trick - you get the balance juuuust right and then take the photo real quickly before the wind catches it. ;)

Don't try this at home...

The proper finish is bare metal with a coat of oil to keep the rust at bay, that way you can spot (and repair) any developing cracks. The problem is that that the oil dries off over time and you get a layer of rust. I've gotten used to it over the years but you're right, it does let the side down a bit.

And kiwi, it looks good back together doesn't it? Its been a while.
Thanks as always for all your help.

Now back to the 911...

Kwak looks well smart. You've made a nice job of it :cool

as for the exhausts, you may want to try this stuff. Its only a polish but it leaves a shiny silver effect and lasts for ages. The older generation used to use it on stoves etc

heres a before and after pic of some I used on my lads ped exhaust

Hey, I'd forgotten about that stuff, I used it on my iron barrelled XLX Sportster to stop the rust setting in - worked a treat.
