YZF1000R Vibration
Hi There (Great Site)

Was wondering if anyone has sonme information about the vibration in the yzf100r thunderace ('97) at approx 5000rpm. I have seen a few people talk about it in other areas but no-one seems to know why it happens.. Just really curious as I have only just bought the bike a few months ago and this is the only concern i am having.

many thanks & <img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... Re: YZF1000R Vibration
Greetings Phil and Welcome to the Brotherhood.

Sorry, I have no answer to your question, as I have never heard about the issue you describe. But that doesn't mean that someone else doesn't know.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ...
There are some who call me........Tim?
Director of Entertainment Eddie & the Cruisers
1994 FZR 1000

I find that the Excitement Level is in direct proportion to the position of the Needle on the Tachometer.

Re: YZF1000R Vibration
has to do with the ratio of primary to secondary balance and the resultant (as it moves angularly about the polar moment of the crank/piston/rod mass) becoming resonant at a given rpm
In other words you can change the amplitude and frequency of the vibration by altering the recip mass in relation to the rotating mass and or the angle of the crank pins
All clear now?
Jim<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... Re: YZF1000R Vibration (Many Thanks)
Jim

Many Thanks for your knowledge. If I understand what you are saying I could alter the rotating mass (pistons, rods, etc) and not remove the issue but it would possibly move to a different RPM range.

The vibrations is very minor and goes just as quick as it comes. Only a very very small issue and the rest of the bike's features far outway such a minor thing.

Thanks again & <img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... Re: YZF1000R Vibration (Many Thanks)
Even after Falicon does their Supercranking, you will have a buzz somewhere, just mellower, but it is a result of rotating mass. Dragracer, I love you man, always coming through with the jargin that so many riders don't understand. Thanks to all gearheads...!!!!!

CHUCK D.

Sorry Chuck, I certainly didn't mean to speak in a way that wouldn't be understood. But I am a Mechanical Engineer.<img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/ ... Cheers.gif ALT=":cheers">
Jim

cuddos to all
In total agreeance with you buddy. I love my part in creating and upgrading Yamahas, but it's only through the hard work of guys like you that any of these ideas and creations are made possible. I have always relied on the tried hard knowledge of machinist to help me learn more. Through the years I have always read th eposts of others and several times I have learned bit that I surely didn't know. Thank you again and all those out there that help contribute to the future and commradery that can only be found at a site like ours. I Hope we can all get together this summer and laugh it up.

CHUCK D.
